أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ أنبأ أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ السَّيَّارِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْغَزَّالُ ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ شَقِيقٍ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ ح وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الرُّوذْبَارِيُّ أنبأ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ دَاسَةَ ثنا أَبُو دَاوُدَ ثنا أَبُو تَوْبَةَ الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ نَافِ��ٍ عَنِ ابْنِ الْمُبَارَكِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ هُوَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ عَنْ بُكَيْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْأَشَجِّ عَنِ ابْنِ مِكْرَزٍ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الشَّامِ وفِي رِوَايَةِ ابْنِ شَقِيقٍ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ بْنِ مِكْرَزٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ؓ أَنَّ رَجُلًا قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ رَجُلٌ يُرِيدُ الْجِهَادَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ وَهُوَ يَبْتَغِي عَرَضًا مِنْ عَرَضِ الدُّنْيَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَا أَجْرَ لَهُ فَسَأَلَهُ الثَّانِيَةَ وَالثَّالِثَةَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَا أَجْرَ لَهُ لَفْظُ حَدِيثِ ابْنِ شَقِيقٍ قَالَ الشَّيْخُ وَهَذِهِ الْأَخْبَارُ وَمَا أَشْبَهَهَا تَحْتَمِلُ أَنْ تَكُونَ فِيمَنْ لَا يَنْوِي بِغَزْوِهِ إِلَّا الدُّنْيَا وَمَا يَرْجِعُ إِلَى أَسْبَابِهَا فَأَمَّا مَنْ يَبْتَغِي الْأَجْرَ وَيَرْجُو أَنْ يُصِيبَ غَنِيمَةً فَقَدْ

Abu Abdullah al-Hafiz informed us, from Abu al-Abbas al-Qasim ibn al-Qasim al-Sayyari, from Abdullah ibn Ali al-Ghazzal, from Ali ibn al-Hasan ibn Shaqiq, from Abdullah ibn al-Mubarak; and Abu Ali al-Rudhbari informed us, from Abu Bakr ibn Dasah, from Abu Dawud, from Abu Tawbah al-Rabi' ibn Nafi', from Ibn al-Mubarak, from Ibn Abi Dhi'b, from al-Qasim — he is Ibn Abbas — from Bukayr ibn Abdullah ibn al-Ashajj, from Ibn Mikraz, a man from the people of al-Sham — and in the narration of Ibn Shaqiq, from Ayyub ibn Mikraz — from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), that a man said: O Messenger of Allah, a man wants to fight jihad in the cause of Allah while also seeking worldly gain. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: There is no reward for him. He asked a second and third time, and the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: There is no reward for him. This is the wording of Ibn Shaqiq's narration. The Shaykh said: These reports and similar ones may apply to one whose sole intention in fighting is worldly gain and its pursuits.
