حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبٌ عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ أَخْبَرَنِي سَالِمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عُمَرَ يَقُولُ مَنْ ضَفَرَ فَلْيَحْلِقْ وَلَا تَشَبَّهُوا بِالتَّلْبِيدِ وَكَانَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ يَقُولُ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مُلَبِّدًا.

Abu al-Yaman told us, Shu'ayb told us, from al-Zuhri, Salim ibn Abdullah told me, from Abdullah ibn Umar, who said: I heard Umar say: "Whoever plaits his hair [for ihram] should shave it; do not imitate matting the hair with gum." And Ibn Umar used to say: "I saw the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, with his hair matted [for ihram]."
