حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمٌ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ يَعْنِي شَيْبَانَ عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى ابْنِ عُمَرَ فَقَالَ يَا ابْنَ عُمَرَ إِنِّي سَائِلُكَ عَنْ شَيْءٍ تُحَدِّثُنِي بِهِ قَالَ نَعَمْ فَذَكَرَ عُثْمَانَ فَقَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ أَمَّا تَغَيُّبُهُ عَنْ بَدْرٍ فَإِنَّهُ كَانَتْ تَحْتَهُ ابْنَةُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَكَانَتْ مَرِيضَةً فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ لَكَ أَجْرَ رَجُلٍ شَهِدَ بَدْرًا وَسَهْمَهُ وَأَمَّا تَغَيُّبُهُ عَنْ بَيْعَةِ الرِّضْوَانِ فَإِنَّهُ لَوْ كَانَ أَحَدٌ أَعَزَّ بِبَطْنِ مَكَّةَ مِنْ عُثْمَانَ لَبَعَثَهُ فَبَعَثَ عُثْمَانَ وَكَانَتْ بَيْعَةُ الرِّضْوَانِ بَعْدَ مَا ذَهَبَ عُثْمَانُ إِلَى مَكَّةَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِيَدِهِ الْيُمْنَى هَذِهِ يَدُ عُثْمَانَ فَضَرَبَ بِيَدِهِ الْأُخْرَى عَلَيْهَا فَقَالَ هَذِهِ لِعُثْمَانَ فَقَالَ لَهُ ابْنُ عُمَرَ اذْهَبْ بِهَذِهِ الْآنَ مَعَكَ.
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Hashim told us, Abu Mu'awiya - that is, Shayban - told us, from Uthman ibn Abdullah, who said: A man came to Ibn Umar and said, "O Ibn Umar, I am going to ask you about something; will you tell me about it?" He said, "Yes." So he mentioned Uthman. Ibn Umar said: "As for his absence from Badr, he had the Messenger of Allah's daughter as his wife, and she was ill, so the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said to him: 'You will have the reward of a man who witnessed Badr, and his share [of the spoils].' As for his absence from the Pledge of al-Ridwan, if there had been anyone more esteemed in the heart of Makkah than Uthman, he [the Prophet] would have sent him, but he sent Uthman, and the Pledge of al-Ridwan took place after Uthman had gone to Makkah. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, [raised] his right hand and said, 'This is the hand of Uthman,' and struck it with his other hand, saying, 'This is for Uthman.'" Ibn Umar said to him: "Now go, take this with you."
