حَدَّثَنَا خَلَفُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا هُذَيْلُ بْنُ بِلَالٍ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي مَحْذُورَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَوْ عَنْ جَدِّهِ قَالَ جَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْأَذَانَ لَنَا وَلِمَوَالِينَا وَالسِّقَايَةَ لِبَنِي هَاشِمٍ وَالْحِجَابَةَ لِبَنِي عَبْدِ الدَّارِ.

Khalaf ibn al-Walid told us, he said: Hudhayl ibn Bilal told us, from Ibn Abi Mahdhurah, from his father or from his grandfather, he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) assigned the adhan to us and to our freedmen, the water-supply to Banu Hashim, and the custodianship of the Ka'bah to Banu Abd al-Dar.
