Abd al-Samad and Harami - the meaning being the same - told us: Hisham told us, from Qatadah, from Abu al-Khalil, from a companion of his, from Umm Salamah, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "There will be discord at the death of a caliph, and a man will flee from Medina to Mecca. Some people of Mecca will come to him and bring him out against his will, and they will pledge allegiance to him between the Corner and the Station. Then an army will be sent against them from Syria, and they will be swallowed up by the earth at al-Bayda'. When the people see that, the substitutes of Syria and the bands of Iraq will come to him and pledge allegiance to him. Then a man of Quraysh will arise whose maternal uncles are of Kalb, and the man of Mecca will send an expedition against him, but they will prevail over them, and that will be the expedition of Kalb; and wretched is the one who does not witness the plunder of Kalb. He will then distribute the wealth and put into practice among the people the way of their Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and Islam will settle its neck firmly upon the earth. He will remain nine years" - Harami said, "or seven."
