حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ وَسَمِعْتُهُ أَنَا مِنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ عَنْ مُغِيرَةَ عَنْ أُمِّ مُوسَى عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ قَالَتْ وَالَّذِي أَحْلِفُ بِهِ إِنْ كَانَ عَلِيٌّ لَأَقْرَبَ النَّاسِ عَهْدًا بِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَتْ عُدْنَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ غَدَاةً بَعْدَ غَدَاةٍ يَقُولُ جَاءَ عَلِيٌّ مِرَارًا قَالَتْ وَأَظُنُّهُ كَانَ بَعَثَهُ فِي حَاجَةٍ قَالَتْ فَجَاءَ بَعْدُ فَظَنَنْتُ أَنَّ لَهُ إِلَيْهِ حَاجَةً فَخَرَجْنَا مِنْ الْبَيْتِ فَقَعَدْنَا عِنْدَ الْبَابِ فَكُنْتُ مِنْ أَدْنَاهُمْ إِلَى الْبَابِ فَأَكَبَّ عَلَيْهِ عَلِيٌّ فَجَعَلَ يُسَارُّهُ وَيُنَاجِيهِ ثُمَّ قُبِضَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ يَوْمِهِ ذَلِكَ فَكَانَ أَقْرَبَ النَّاسِ بِهِ عَهْدًا.
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Narrated to us by Abdullah ibn Muhammad - and I myself heard it from Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Abi Shaybah - who said: Jarir ibn Abd al-Hamid narrated to us, from Mughirah, from Umm Musa, from Umm Salamah, who said: "By the One by whom I swear, Ali was indeed the closest of people in time to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)." She said: "We used to come to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) morning after morning, and he would say, 'Ali has come,' several times." She said: "I think he had sent him on an errand." She said: "Then he came afterward, and I thought he had some business with him, so we left the house and sat by the door - I was among those nearest to the door - and Ali leaned over him, whispering to him and conversing privately. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) passed away that very day, so he was the closest of people to him in time."
