Muhammad ibn Ja'far told us: Shu'ba told us, from Yazid ibn Khumayr, who said: I heard Abdullah ibn Abi Musa say: Mudrik, or Ibn Mudrik, sent me to Aisha to ask her about some matters. He said: So I came to her, and she was praying the Duha prayer. I said: 'I will sit until she finishes.' They said: 'That will be a long wait.' So I said to her doorkeeper: 'How should I ask permission to enter upon her?' He said: 'Say: Peace be upon you, O Prophet, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings; peace be upon us and upon the righteous servants of Allah; peace be upon the Mothers of the Believers,' or 'the wives of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him; peace be upon you.' He said: So I entered upon her and asked her. She said: 'The brother of Azib - what a good household!' Then I asked her about wisal, the continuous fast. She said: 'When the Day of Uhud came, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and his companions practiced wisal, and it was hard on them. When they saw the new moon, they informed the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and he said: If it had continued, I would have continued. It was said to him: You do that, or something like it. He said: I am not like you; I spend the night being fed and given drink by my Lord.' I asked her about the two rak'as after Asr. She said: 'The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, sent a man to collect the charity, and he came to him at noon. So the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, prayed Dhuhr, then he was occupied distributing it until he prayed Asr, then he prayed the two rak'as afterward.' And she said: 'Hold fast to the night prayer, for the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, never abandoned it; if he was ill, he would recite it sitting. I know that one of you might say: It is enough for me to perform what has been decreed for me - but how could that be for him!' I asked her about the day about which there is disagreement regarding Ramadan. She said: 'That I should fast a day from Sha'ban is dearer to me than that I should break a day of Ramadan.' He said: Then I went out and asked Ibn Umar and Abu Hurayra, and each of them said: 'The wives of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, know that better than we do.' I heard my father say: Yazid ibn Khumayr is a reliable narrator. My father said: Abdullah ibn Abi Musa - this is an error, Shu'ba erred in it; he is actually Abdullah ibn Abi Qays.
