قَالَ وَبَيْنَمَا جَارِيَةٌ لِي تَرْعَى غُنَيْمَاتٍ لِي فِي قِبَلِ أُحُدٍ وَالْجَوَّانِيَّةِ فَاطَّلَعْتُ عَلَيْهَا اطِّلَاعَةً فَإِذَا الذِّئْبُ قَدْ ذَهَبَ مِنْهَا بِشَاةٍ وَأَنَا رَجُلٌ مِنْ بَنِي آدَمَ يَأْسَفُ كَمَا يَأْسَفُونَ لَكِنِّي صَكَكْتُهَا صَكَّةً قَالَ فَعَظُمَ ذَلِكَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قُلْتُ أَلَا أُعْتِقُهَا قَالَ ابْعَثْ إِلَيْهَا قَالَ فَأَرْسَلَ إِلَيْهَا فَجَاءَ بِهَا فَقَالَ أَيْنَ اللَّهُ قَالَتْ فِي السَّمَاءِ قَالَ فَمَنْ أَنَا قَالَتْ أَنْتَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ قَالَ أَعْتِقْهَا فَإِنَّهَا مُؤْمِنَةٌ.
الترجمة الإنجليزية
He said: And while a slave girl of mine was grazing some sheep of mine toward Uhud and al-Jawwaniyyah, I looked in on her once and found that a wolf had taken a sheep from the flock. I am but a man of the sons of Adam who gets upset as they get upset, so I struck her a slap. He said: That was a grave matter to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. I said: Shall I not free her? He said: Send for her. He said: So he sent for her, and she was brought, and he said: Where is Allah? She said: In the heaven. He said: Who am I? She said: You are the Messenger of Allah. He said: Free her, for she is a believer.
