حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ حَجَّاجٍ الصَّوَّافِ حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ حَدَّثَنِي هِلَالُ بْنُ أَبِي مَيْمُونَةَ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ السُّلَمِيِّ قَالَ صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ فَعَطَسَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ الْقَوْمِ فَقُلْتُ يَرْحَمُكَ اللَّهُ فَرَمَانِي الْقَوْمُ بِأَبْصَارِهِمْ فَقُلْتُ وَا ثُكْلَ أُمِّيَاهْ مَا شَأْنُكُمْ تَنْظُرُونَ إِلَيَّ قَالَ فَجَعَلُوا يَضْرِبُونَ بِأَيْدِيهِمْ عَلَى أَفْخَاذِهِمْ فَعَرَفْتُ أَنَّهُمْ يُصْمِتُونِي لَكِنِّي سَكَتُّ فَلَمَّا قَضَى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الصَّلَاةَ بِأَبِي هُوَ وَأُمِّي مَا شَتَمَنِي وَلَا كَهَرَنِي وَلَا ضَرَبَنِي فَقَالَ إِنَّ هَذِهِ الصَّلَاةَ لَا يَصْلُحُ فِيهَا شَيْءٌ مِنْ كَلَامِ النَّاسِ هَذَا إِنَّمَا هِيَ التَّسْبِيحُ وَالتَّكْبِيرُ وَقِرَاءَةُ الْقُرْآنِ أَوْ كَمَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّا قَوْمٌ حَدِيثُ عَهْدٍ بِجَاهِلِيَّةٍ وَقَدْ جَاءَ اللَّهُ بِالْإِسْلَامِ وَمِنَّا رِجَالٌ يَأْتُونَ الْكُهَّانَ قَالَ فَلَا تَأْتُوهُمْ قُلْتُ وَمِنَّا رِجَالٌ يَتَطَيَّرُونَ قَالَ فَإِنَّ ذَلِكَ شَيْءٌ يَجِدُونَهُ فِي صُدُورِهِمْ فَلَا يَصُدَّنَّهُمْ قُلْتُ وَمِنَّا رِجَالٌ يَخُطُّونَ قَالَ كَانَ نَبِيٌّ مِنْ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ يَخُطُّ فَمَنْ وَافَقَ خَطَّهُ فَذَاكَ.
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Yahya ibn Sa'id narrated to us, from Hajjaj al-Sawwaf: Yahya ibn Abi Kathir narrated to me: Hilal ibn Abi Maymuna narrated to me, from Ata' ibn Yasar, from Mu'awiya al-Sulami, who said: I prayed with the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. He said: A man among the people sneezed, so I said: May Allah have mercy on you. The people stared at me with their eyes, so I said: Woe to my mother, what is the matter with you, staring at me? He said: They began striking their hands upon their thighs, and I realized they were trying to silence me, but I kept quiet. When the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, finished the prayer -- by my father and mother, he neither cursed me, nor rebuked me harshly, nor struck me -- he said: In this prayer, nothing of the speech of people is proper; it is only glorification, magnification, and recitation of the Qur'an, or as the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said. I said: O Messenger of Allah, we are a people recently emerged from Jahiliyyah, and Allah has brought Islam, and among us are men who go to fortune-tellers. He said: Do not go to them. I said: And among us are men who take omens. He said: That is something they find in their breasts, so let it not turn them away. I said: And among us are men who draw lines. He said: There was a prophet among the prophets who used to draw lines, so whoever matches his line, that is permissible.
