Muhammad ibn Ja'far told us: Shu'ba told us, from Asim ibn Kulayb, from Iyad ibn Marthad or Marthad ibn Iyad, from a man of theirs, that he asked the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, saying, "O Messenger of Allah, tell me of a deed that will admit me to Paradise." He said: "Is either of your parents alive?" - asking him several times. He said, "No." He said: "Then give water to drink." He said, "How do I give it?" He said: "Provide their equipment when they are present, and carry it to them when they are absent."
