'Affan told us, Shu'bah told us — Abu Bakr ibn Hafs said, he informed me, he said: I heard Abu Musabbih, or Ibn Musabbih, Abu Bakr being uncertain, from Ibn al-Simt, from 'Ubadah ibn al-Samit, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, visited 'Abdullah ibn Rawahah while he was ill. He said: he did not even move aside for him on his bed, and he said: "Do you know who the martyrs of my nation are?" They said: "The killing of a Muslim is martyrdom." He said: "Then the martyrs of my nation would indeed be few. The killing of a Muslim is martyrdom, the plague is martyrdom, and a woman whom her child kills, taking her together with it, is martyrdom."
