حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ أَخْبَرَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ زَحْرٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ وَحُدِّثْنَا بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ عَرَضَ عَلَيَّ رَبِّي عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لِيَجْعَلَ لِي بَطْحَاءَ مَكَّةَ ذَهَبًا فَقُلْتُ لَا يَا رَبِّ وَلَكِنْ أَشْبَعُ يَوْمًا وَأَجُوعُ يَوْمًا أَوْ نَحْوَ ذَلِكَ فَإِذَا جُعْتُ تَضَرَّعْتُ إِلَيْكَ وَذَكَرْتُكَ وَإِذَا شَبِعْتُ حَمِدْتُكَ وَشَكَرْتُكَ.
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Ali ibn Ishaq told us, Abdullah told us, Yahya ibn Ayyub informed us, Ubaydullah ibn Zahr told us, from Ali ibn Yazid, from al-Qasim, from Abu Umamah, from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. And we were told with this same chain from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, that he said: "My Lord, Mighty and Majestic, offered to make the valley of Mecca gold for me, but I said: 'No, my Lord, but let me be full one day and hungry another' -- or something like that -- 'for when I am hungry I humble myself before You and remember You, and when I am full I praise You and thank You.'"
