Bahz told us, Hammad told us, Sa'id b. Jumhan told us: Safinah told me, that a man was hosted by 'Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, who prepared food for him. Fatimah said to 'Ali: "If only you invited the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, to eat with us." So we invited him, and he came and took hold of the two door-posts — and we had hung a curtain in a corner of the house — and when he saw it, he turned back. Fatimah said to 'Ali: "Catch up with him and see what made him turn back." He said: "What turned you back, O Prophet of Allah?" He said: "It is not for a prophet to enter a house that is decorated." Abu Kamil told us with the same meaning, saying: "It is not for me" — or he said — "it is not for a prophet to enter a house that is decorated."
