So watch the road, for you will see what I have said; for by Allah, I have not lied, nor have I been lied to. She said: How can that be, when the pilgrim caravan has stopped passing? He said: Watch the road. He said: While she was doing so, there she was with a group whose mounts were cutting across the ground, as if they were vultures. The group came forward until they stopped by her, and said: What is the matter with you? She said: A man of the Muslims - shroud him and be rewarded for it. They said: Who is he? She said: Abu Dharr. So they offered their fathers and mothers as ransom for him, and put their whips to the chests of their mounts, racing toward him. He said: "Rejoice - you are the group whom the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, spoke of concerning you. Rejoice: I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: 'There are no two Muslim parents between whom two or three children die, and they seek reward and are patient, but they will never see the Fire.' And now I have arrived at where you see me. If a garment of my own garments were large enough for me, I would not be shrouded except in it. So I adjure you by Allah, let no man among you who was a governor, an overseer, or a courier shroud me." Every one of the group had held some such position, except a young man of the Ansar who was with the group, who said: I am your man - I have two garments in my saddlebag from my mother's spinning, and I still have these two garments I am wearing. He said: "You are my man - shroud me."
