Abu Mu'awiyah told us: al-Shaybani told us, from Ash'ath ibn Abi al-Sha'tha', from Mu'awiyah ibn Suwayd ibn Muqarrin, from al-Bara' ibn Azib, who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, commanded seven things and forbade seven things. He said: He forbade wearing gold rings, drinking from silver and gold vessels, wearing brocade, silk, and thick silk brocade, wearing the striped silk called qassi, and riding on red silk cushions. And he commanded seven things: visiting the sick, following funeral processions, responding to one who sneezes, returning the greeting of peace, fulfilling the oath of one who swears, helping the wronged, and answering the one who invites.
