حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو جَنَابٍ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ الْبَرَاءِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ خَطَبَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ النَّحْرِ فَقَالَ إِنَّ أَوَّلَ نُسُكِكُمْ هَذِهِ الصَّلَاةُ فَقَامَ إِلَيْهِ أَبُو بُرْدَةَ بْنُ نِيَارٍ خَالِي قَالَ سُهَيْلٌ وَكَانَ بَدْرِيًّا فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ كَانَ يَوْمًا نَشْتَهِي فِيهِ اللَّحْمَ ثُمَّ إِنَّا عَجَّلْنَا فَذَبَحْنَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَبْدِلْهَا قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ عِنْدَنَا مَاعِزًا جَذَعًا قَالَ فَهِيَ لَكَ وَلَيْسَ لِأَحَدٍ بَعْدَكَ.

Sufyan told us: Abu Janab informed us, from Yazid ibn al-Bara', from his father: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, delivered a sermon on the Day of Sacrifice and said, "The first rite of yours today is this prayer." My maternal uncle Abu Burdah ibn Niyar stood up to him—Suhayl said: and he had been present at Badr—and said, "O Messenger of Allah, it was a day when I craved meat, so we hurried and slaughtered." The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "Then replace it." He said, "O Messenger of Allah, we have a young milk-goat." He said, "It will suffice for you, but not for anyone after you."
