Abu al-Walid and Affan told us, they said: Ubaydullah ibn Iyad told us, Iyad told us, from Suwayd ibn Sarhan, from al-Mughirah ibn Shu'bah, that the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, ate food, then the prayer was established, and he stood up, having already performed ablution before that. I brought him water so he could perform ablution from it, but he rebuked me and said, "Behind you," and this, by God, distressed me. Then he prayed, and I complained of this to Umar, who said, "O Prophet of God, al-Mughirah found your rebuking him hard to bear, and feared you held something against him." The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "I hold nothing against him but good; but he brought me water to perform ablution when I had only eaten food, and had I done so, the people would have done the same after me."
