Abu Salamah al-Khuza'i told us, Hammad ibn Salamah told us, from Asim ibn Bahdalah, from Habib ibn Abi Jubayrah, from Ya'la ibn Siyabah, who said: I was with the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, on a journey of his, and he wanted to relieve himself. So he ordered two small palm shoots, and one of them drew close to the other; then he ordered them and they returned to their places of growth. And a camel came and struck its neck against the ground, then groaned until what was around it became wet. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, 'Do you know what the camel is saying? It claims that its owner intends to slaughter it.' So the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, sent for him and said, 'Will you give it to me?' He said, 'O Messenger of Allah, I have no wealth dearer to me than it.' He said, 'Then treat it well.' He said, 'No doubt about it - I will honor no wealth of mine as much as this, O Messenger of Allah.' And he passed by a grave whose occupant was being punished, and he said, 'He is being punished for something not great.' So he ordered a palm branch, and it was placed on his grave, and he said, 'Perhaps it will be lightened for him as long as it remains moist.'
