حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ مَوْلَى بَنِي هَاشِمٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ رَافِعِ بْنِ خَدِيجٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَأَى الْحُمْرَةَ قَدْ ظَهَرَتْ فَكَرِهَهَا فَلَمَّا مَاتَ رَافِعُ بْنُ خَدِيجٍ جَعَلُوا عَلَى سَرِيرِهِ قَطِيفَةً حَمْرَاءَ فَعَجِبَ النَّاسُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ.

Abu Sa'id, the freedman of Banu Hashim, narrated to us: Abdullah b. Ja'far narrated to us: Uthman b. Muhammad narrated to us, from Rafi' b. Khadij, that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saw redness appear and disliked it. When Rafi' b. Khadij died, they placed a red velvet cloth over his bier, and the people were surprised at that.
