حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ بُدَيْلٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ عَنْ رَاشِدِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَامِرٍ الْهَوْزَنِيِّ عَنِ الْمِقْدَامِ أَبِي كَرِيمَةَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ مَنْ تَرَكَ كَلًّا فَإِلَى اللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ وَرُبَّمَا قَالَ فَإِلَيْنَا وَمَنْ تَرَكَ مَالًا فَلِوَارِثِهِ وَالْخَالُ وَارِثُ مَنْ لَا وَارِثَ لَهُ وَأَنَا وَارِثُ مَنْ لَا وَارِثَ لَهُ أَرِثُهُ وَأَعْقِلُ عَنْهُ حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ فَذَكَرَهُ وَقَالَ عَنِ الْمِقْدَامِ مِنْ كِنْدَةَ وَكَانَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَحْوَهُ.

Muhammad b. Ja'far narrated to us: Shu'ba narrated to us, from Budayl, from Ali b. Abi Talha, from Rashid b. Sa'd, from Abu Amir al-Hawzani, from al-Miqdam Abu Karima, from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), that he said: "Whoever leaves behind dependents, they are the responsibility of Allah and His Messenger" - and sometimes he said "they are our responsibility" - "and whoever leaves behind wealth, it is for his heir. The maternal uncle is the heir of one who has no heir. And I am the heir of one who has no heir; I inherit from him and pay blood-money on his behalf."
