قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا النُّعْمَانُ بْنُ سَالِمٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ فُلَانًا أَوْسٌ جَدُّهُ قَالَ كَانَ جَدِّي يَقُولُ لِي وَهُوَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ يُومِئُ إِلَيَّ نَاوِلْنِي النَّعْلَيْنِ فَأُنَاوِلُهُمَا إِيَّاهُ فَيَلْبَسُهُمَا وَيُصَلِّي فِيهِمَا وَيَقُولُ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي فِي نَعْلَيْهِ.

He said, Affan told us: Shu'ba told us: al-Nu'man ibn Salim told us, who said: I heard so-and-so — Aws was his grandfather — say: My grandfather used to say to me while he was in prayer, gesturing to me, 'Hand me the sandals,' so I would hand them to him, and he would put them on and pray in them, saying, 'I saw the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, praying in his sandals.'
