حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي الرَّبِيعِ السَّمَّانُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي سَعِيدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي الْحُسَامِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُنْكَدِرِ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَبِيعَةَ بْنَ عَبَّادٍ الدِّيلِيَّ يَقُولُ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَطُوفُ عَلَى النَّاسِ بمِنًى فِي مَنَازِلِهِمْ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُهَاجِرَ إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ يَقُولُ يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يَأْمُرُكُمْ أَنْ تَعْبُدُوهُ وَلَا تُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا قَالَ وَوَرَاءَهُ رَجُلٌ يَقُولُ هَذَا يَأْمُرُكُمْ أَنْ تَدَعُوا دِينَ آبَائِكُمْ فَسَأَلْتُ مَنْ هَذَا الرَّجُلُ فَقِيلَ هَذَا أَبُو لَهَبٍ.

Abdullah narrated to us: Sa'id b. Abi al-Rabi' al-Samman narrated to us: Sa'id b. Salamah — that is Ibn Abi al-Husam — narrated to me: Muhammad b. al-Munkadir narrated to us, that he heard Rabi'ah b. Abbad al-Dili say: I saw the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, going around to the people at Mina in their encampments, before he emigrated to Madinah, saying, "O people, Allah, Mighty and Majestic, commands you to worship Him and not associate anything with Him." He said: And behind him was a man saying, "This one commands you to abandon the religion of your fathers." So I asked, "Who is this man?" It was said, "This is Abu Lahab."
