Affan told us, Shu'bah told us, Muhammad ibn Abd al-Rahman told us, from Muhammad ibn Amr ibn Hasan ibn Ali, from Jabir ibn Abdullah, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, saw a man being shaded [by others while fasting on a journey] and said, "It is not righteousness to fast while traveling [in such hardship]."
