حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ يَقُولُ إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَمَرَ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ يَوْمَ الْفَتْحِ وَهُوَ بِالْبَطْحَاءِ أَنْ يَأْتِيَ الْكَعْبَةَ فَيَمْحُوَ كُلَّ صُورَةٍ فِيهَا وَلَمْ يَدْخُلْ الْبَيْتَ حَتَّى مُحِيَتْ كُلُّ صُورَةٍ فِيهِ.

Rawh told us, Ibn Jurayj told us, Abu al-Zubayr informed me, that he heard Jabir ibn Abdullah say: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered Umar ibn al-Khattab on the day of the Conquest, while he was at al-Batha, to go to the Ka'ba and erase every image in it, and he did not enter the House until every image in it had been erased.
