Zakariyya told us, Ubaydullah and Husayn ibn Muhammad informed us, they said: Ubaydullah told us, from Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Aqil, from Jabir, who said: While we were with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, in our rows during prayer - the noon or the afternoon prayer - the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, suddenly reached out for something, then drew back, and the people drew back too. When he finished the prayer, Ubayy ibn Ka'b said to him: "You did something in the prayer you had not done before." He said: "Paradise was presented to me with all its splendor and freshness, and I reached out to take a bunch of grapes from it to bring to you, but I was prevented from it. Had I brought it to you, everyone between heaven and earth would have eaten from it without it diminishing at all. Then the Fire was presented to me, and when I felt its scorching heat, I drew back from it. Most of those I saw in it were the women who, if entrusted with a secret, betray it; if asked for something, are miserly; and if they ask for something, are persistent [in begging]" - Husayn said: "and if given something, are not grateful" - "and I saw in it Luhayy ibn Amr dragging his intestines in the Fire, and the one I saw most resembling him was Ma'bad ibn Aktham al-Ka'bi." Ma'bad said: "O Messenger of Allah, should I fear for myself because of his resemblance, though he is my father?" He said: "No, you are a believer and he is a disbeliever." Husayn said: "and he was the first to lead the Arabs into the worship of idols." Husayn said: "I drew back from it, and were it not for that, it would have overwhelmed you."
