حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ عَدِيٍّ حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ جَاهَدْتُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ بِنَفْسِي وَمَالِي حَتَّى أُقْتَلَ صَابِرًا مُحْتَسِبًا مُقْبِلًا غَيْرَ مُدْبِرٍ أَأَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ قَالَ نَعَمْ فَلَمَّا وَلَّى دَعَاهُ فَقَالَ إِلَّا أَنْ يَكُونَ عَلَيْكَ دَيْنٌ لَيْسَ لَهُ عِنْدَكَ وَفَاءٌ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عِيسَى حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَاهُ.

Zakariyya ibn Adi told us, Ubaydullah told us, from Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Aqil, from Jabir, who said: A man came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and said: "Tell me, if I strive in the way of Allah with myself and my wealth until I am killed, patient and expecting reward, advancing and not retreating - will I enter Paradise?" He said: "Yes." When the man turned away, he called him back and said: "Except if you have a debt that you cannot repay." Ishaq ibn Isa told us, Sharik told us, from Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn Aqil, from Jabir ibn Abdullah, who said: A man came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him - and he mentioned something similar.
