حَدَّثَنَا مُؤَمَّلٌ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زَيْدٍ أَخْبَرَنَا أَيُّوبُ عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ أَنَا أَعْلَمُ النَّاسِ أَوْ مِنْ أَعْلَمْ النَّاسِ بِآيَةِ الْحِجَابِ تَزَوَّجَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ زَيْنَبَ ابْنَةَ جَحْشٍ فَذَبَحَ شَاةً فَدَعَا أَصْحَابَهُ فَأَكَلُوا وَقَعَدُوا يَتَحَدَّثُونَ وَجَعَلَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْرُجُ وَيَدْخُلُ وَهُمْ قُعُودٌ ثُمَّ يَخْرُجُ فَيَمْكُثُ مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ وَيَرْجِعُ وَهُمْ قُعُودٌ وَزَيْنَبُ قَاعِدَةٌ فِي نَاحِيَةِ الْبَيْتِ وَجَعَلَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَسْتَحْيِي مِنْهُمْ أَنْ يَقُولَ لَهُمْ شَيْئًا فَنَزَلَتْ { يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَا تَدْخُلُوا بُيُوتَ النَّبِيِّ إِلَّا أَنْ يُؤْذَنَ لَكُمْ إِلَى طَعَامٍ غَيْرَ نَاظِرِينَ إِنَاهُ وَلَكِنْ إِذَا دُعِيتُمْ فَادْخُلُوا الْآيَاتُ إِلَى قَوْلِهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ فَاسْأَلُوهُنَّ مِنْ وَرَاءِ حِجَابٍ } قَالَ فَأَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِحِجَابٍ مَكَانَهُ فَضُرِبَ.
الترجمة الإنجليزية
Mu'ammal narrated to us, Hammad—that is, Ibn Zayd—narrated to us, Ayyub informed us, from Abu Qilabah, from Anas, who said: I am the most knowledgeable of people, or among the most knowledgeable of people, about the verse of the veil. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, married Zaynab bint Jahsh, and he slaughtered a sheep and invited his Companions. They ate and sat talking, while the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, went out and came in while they remained seated; then he would go out and stay away as long as Allah willed, then return while they were still seated, with Zaynab sitting in a corner of the house. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, felt too shy to tell them to leave. Then there was revealed: "O you who believe, do not enter the houses of the Prophet unless permission is given to you for a meal, without awaiting its readiness, but when you are invited, then enter"—the verses up to His saying, Mighty and Sublime is He: "and when you ask his wives for something, ask them from behind a veil." He said: So the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, ordered that a curtain be set up right there, and it was set up.
