حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ لَمَّا قَدِمَ أَهْلُ الْيَمَنِ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالُوا ابْعَثْ مَعَنَا رَجُلًا يُعَلِّمُنَا كِتَابَ رَبِّنَا وَالسُّنَّةَ قَالَ فَأَخَذَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِيَدِ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ فَدَفَعَهُ إِلَيْهِمْ وَقَالَ هَذَا أَمِينُ هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ.

Abd al-Samad told us, Hammad told us, from Thabit, from Anas, who said: When the people of Yemen came to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, they said: Send with us a man to teach us the Book of our Lord and the Sunnah. So the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, took the hand of Abu Ubaydah and delivered him to them, saying: This is the trustworthy one of this nation.
