Hittan ibn Abdullah al-Raqashi narrates: Hadrat 'Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may Allah be well pleased with him) led us in prayer. When he sat in the final sitting, a man from the congregation said: "The prayer has been coupled with righteousness and zakat." When Hadrat Abu Musa finished, he turned to the people and said: "Which of you said such-and-such?" The people were silent. He asked again, and they remained silent. He said: "Perhaps it was you, O Hittan?" He said: "I did not say it, and I feared you would rebuke me for it." Then a man said: "I said it, and I only meant good by it." Hadrat Abu Musa said: "Do you not know what to say in your prayer? The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) addressed us, taught us our sunnah, and taught us our prayer. He (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: When you pray, straighten your rows. Then let one of you lead. When he says takbir, say takbir. When he recites ghayril-maghdubi 'alayhim wa la-d-dallin, say Amin and Allah will answer you. When he says takbir and bows, say takbir and bow, for the imam bows before you and rises before you." The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: "So that evens it out. When he says sami'Allahu liman hamidah, say Allahumma Rabbana lakal-hamd, and Allah will hear you, for Allah the Exalted said on the tongue of His Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him): sami'Allahu liman hamidah. When he says takbir and prostrates, say takbir and prostrate, for the imam prostrates before you and rises before you." The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: "So that evens it out. When it is time for the sitting, let the first thing each of you says be: At-tahiyyatu-t-tayyibatu-s-salawatu lillah, as-salamu 'alayka ayyuhan-Nabiyyu wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh, as-salamu 'alayna wa 'ala 'ibadillahis-salihin, ash-hadu an la ilaha illallah wa ash-hadu anna Muhammadan 'abduhu wa rasuluh."' Ahmad did not say 'wa barakatuh' nor 'wa ash-hadu' but said 'wa anna Muhammadan.'
الترجمة الأردية
حِطّان بن عبداللہ رَقاشی فرماتے ہیں: حضرت ابوموسیٰ اشعری (رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ) نے ہمیں نماز پڑھائی — جب نماز کے آخر میں بیٹھے تو قوم میں سے ایک شخص نے کہا: نماز نیکی اور زکوٰۃ کے ساتھ مقرر ہوئی ہے۔ جب حضرت ابوموسیٰ نماز سے فارغ ہوئے تو لوگوں کی طرف متوجہ ہوئے اور فرمایا: تم میں سے فلاں فلاں بات کہنے والا کون ہے؟ لوگ خاموش رہے — دوبارہ پوچھا — لوگ خاموش رہے — فرمایا: شاید اے حِطّان تم نے کہا ہے؟ کہا: میں نے نہیں کہی اور مجھے ڈر ہوا کہ آپ مجھے ڈانٹیں گے۔ ایک شخص نے کہا: میں نے کہی تھی اور اس سے صرف بھلائی کا ارادہ تھا۔ حضرت ابوموسیٰ نے فرمایا: کیا تم نہیں جانتے کہ اپنی نماز میں کیا کہنا ہے! رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ہمیں خطبہ دیا، ہمیں ہماری سنت سکھائی اور ہمیں ہماری نماز سکھائی — ارشاد فرمایا: جب نماز پڑھو تو اپنی صفیں سیدھی کرو — پھر تم میں سے ایک امامت کرے — جب وہ تکبیر کہے تو تکبیر کہو — جب غَيْرِ الْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا الضَّالِّينَ پڑھے تو آمین کہو، اللہ تمہاری دعا قبول فرمائے گا — جب تکبیر کہے اور رکوع کرے تو تکبیر کہو اور رکوع کرو — کیونکہ امام تم سے پہلے رکوع کرتا ہے اور تم سے پہلے اٹھتا ہے — رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: وہ اس کے بدلے ہے — جب سَمِعَ اللّٰهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ کہے تو تم اَللّٰهُمَّ رَبَّنَا لَكَ الْحَمْدُ کہو، اللہ تمہاری سنے گا — کیونکہ اللہ تعالیٰ نے اپنے نبی صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی زبان پر فرمایا: سَمِعَ اللّٰهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ — جب تکبیر کہے اور سجدہ کرے تو تکبیر کہو اور سجدہ کرو — کیونکہ امام تم سے پہلے سجدہ کرتا ہے اور تم سے پہلے اٹھتا ہے — رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: وہ اس کے بدلے ہے — جب بیٹھنے کا وقت ہو تو تم میں سے ہر ایک سب سے پہلے یہ کہے: اَلتَّحِيَّاتُ الطَّيِّبَاتُ الصَّلَوَاتُ لِلّٰهِ اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ وَرَحْمَةُ اللّٰهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْنَا وَعَلَىٰ عِبَادِ اللّٰهِ الصَّالِحِينَ أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا اللّٰهُ وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ۔ احمد کی روایت میں وَبَرَكَاتُهُ نہیں ہے اور نہ وَأَشْهَدُ ہے — بلکہ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا ہے۔
