Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:9970 حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّبَرِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ مِينَاءَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ كُنْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ لَيْلَةَ وَفْدِ الْجِنِّ فَتَنَفَّسَ فَقُلْتُ مَالَكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ «نُعِيَتْ إِلَيَّ نَفْسِي يَا ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ» قُلْتُ اسْتَخْلِفْ قَالَ «مَنْ؟» قُلْتُ أَبُو بَكْرٍ قَالَ فَسَكَتَ ثُمَّ مَضَى سَاعَةً ثُمَّ تَنَفَّسَ فَقُلْتُ مَا شَأْنُكَ بِأَبِي أَنْتَ وَأُمِّي يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ «نُعِيَتْ إِلَيَّ نَفْسِي يَا ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ» قُلْتُ فَاسْتَخْلِفْ قَالَ «مَنْ؟» قُلْتُ عُمَرُ فَسَكَتَ ثُمَّ مَضَى سَاعَةً ثُمَّ تَنَفَّسَ فَقُلْتُ مَا شَأْنُكَ؟ قَالَ «نُعِيَتْ إِلَيَّ نَفْسِي يَا ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ» قُلْتُ فَاسْتَخْلِفْ قَالَ «مَنْ؟» قُلْتُ عَلَيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ قَالَ «أَمَا وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَئِنْ أَطَاعُوهُ لَيَدْخُلَنَّ الْجَنَّةَ أَجْمَعِينَ أَكْتَعِينَ»

Abdullah ibn Mas'ud said: I was with the Prophet (peace be upon him) on the night of the delegation of the jinn. He sighed, and I asked: 'What is the matter, O Messenger of Allah?' He said: 'My death has been announced to me, O Ibn Mas'ud.' I said: 'Appoint a successor.' He said: 'Who?' I said: 'Abu Bakr.' He fell silent. After a while, he sighed again. I asked: 'What is the matter, may my father and mother be sacrificed for you, O Messenger of Allah?' He said: 'My death has been announced to me, O Ibn Mas'ud.' I said: 'Appoint a successor.' He said: 'Who?' I said: 'Umar.' He fell silent. After a while, he sighed again. I asked: 'What is the matter?' He said: 'My death has been announced to me, O Ibn Mas'ud.' I said: 'Appoint a successor.' He said: 'Who?' I said: 'Ali ibn Abi Talib.' He said: 'By the One in whose hand is my soul, if they obeyed him, they would all enter Paradise.'
