Ishaq ibn Ibrahim narrated from Abd al-Razzaq, from Ibn Uyaynah, from al-A'mash, from Ibrahim al-Nakha'i, from Alqamah ibn Qays who said: Abdullah ibn Mas'ud was in Sham (Syria). They said to him: 'Recite to us.' So he recited Surah Yusuf to them. A man among the people said: 'It was not revealed like this.' Abdullah said: 'Woe to you! I recited it to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and he said to me: You have done well.' While he was arguing with him, he detected the smell of wine from him. Abdullah said: 'You drink what is impure and deny the Quran? I shall not leave until you receive the prescribed punishment.' So he was flogged.
