'Abdullah ibn al-Zubayr said that he found in the records of al-Zubayr that he owed debts. When al-Zubayr wanted to go to the Battle of al-Jamal, he said: "The most worrying thing to me is my debt. Do you think any of our wealth will remain after paying the debt?" Then he said: "O my son, sell our property and pay off my debts." He bequeathed one-third, and he entrusted that one-third to 'Abdullah ibn al-Zubayr. He said: "If any of our wealth remains after paying the debts, one-third of it is for your children."
