Khuraym ibn Fatik al-Asadi reported from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), who said: "People are of four types, and deeds are of six types. The deeds are: two that are obligating, one that is like for like, ten-fold, and seven hundred-fold. The two obligating ones are: whoever dies as a Muslim, Paradise is obligated for him; and whoever dies as a disbeliever, the Fire is obligated for him. Like for like means: the servant intends a good deed and one good deed is recorded for him, and he intends a bad deed and is not recompensed except with its like. The servant who performs a good deed has ten recorded for him. And the servant who spends in the cause of Allah is multiplied seven hundred-fold. And people are four types: one given abundance in this world and the Hereafter, one given scarcity in this world but abundance in the Hereafter, one given abundance in this world but scarcity in the Hereafter, and one wretched in both this world and the Hereafter."
