Jabir ibn Samurah said: "Sa'd was praying, and a man said: 'O Allah, give me and give me.' Sa'd said: 'You are asking excessively.' The man said: 'As for you, you do not pray properly.' Sa'd said: 'I extend the first two (rak'ahs) and shorten the last two, and I do not fall short in my following the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him).'"
