Ḥadīth | Ṭabarānī (الطبراني) tabarani:12229 [Machine] We woke up one day and the wives of the Prophet صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ were crying at the homes of each of them. So, I went to the mosque and found it filled with people. Umar came and went up to the Prophet صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ who was in a room, he greeted him but he did not respond. So, Umar said, "Have you divorced your wives?" He replied, "No, but I have withdrawn from them." He stayed in seclusion for twenty-nine nights, then he came to his wives. حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ مَعِينٍ ثنا مَرْوَانُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ الْفَزَارِيُّ ثنا أَبُو يَعْفُورٍ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ ثنا أَبُو الضُّحَى ثنا ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ

Ibn Abbas said: We woke up one day and the wives of the Prophet ♂ were crying, each in her home. I went to the mosque and found it filled with people. Umar came and went up to the Prophet ♂, who was in a room. He greeted him but received no response. Umar said: "Have you divorced your wives?" He replied: "No, but I have withdrawn from them." He stayed in seclusion for twenty-nine nights, then he came back to his wives.
