Sa'id ibn Jubayr said: "Ibn Abbas died in Ta'if, and I witnessed his funeral. A white bird came, the likes of which had not been seen, and entered his bier, and was not seen to come out. When he was buried, this verse was recited at the edge of the grave, and we did not know who recited it: {O reassured soul, return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing to Him, and enter among My servants and enter My Paradise.}"
