عن علي رضي الله عنه قال: الوتر ليس بختم كصلاة المكتوبة ولكن سن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: "إن الله وتر يحب الوتر، فأوتروا يا أهل القرآن". ((رواه أبو داود والترمذي)). وقال: حديث حسن.
انگریزی ترجمہ
Hadrat 'Ali (bin Abu Talib) (may Allah be well pleased with him) reported that the Witr prayer is not obligatory as the prescribed Salat (prayers), but the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) observed it as his regular practice (Sunnah). He (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said, "Allah is Witr (single, odd) and loves what is Witr. So perform Witr prayer. O followers of Qur'an, observe Witr (prayer).".
اردو ترجمہ
حضرت علی المرتضیٰ کرّم اللہ تعالیٰ وجہہ الکریم فرماتے ہیں: وتر فرض نماز کی طرح لازم نہیں بلکہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی سنت ہے۔ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: 'بے شک اللہ تعالیٰ طاق ہے اور طاق کو پسند فرماتا ہے، پس اے اہلِ قرآن! وتر پڑھا کرو۔'
