أَخْبَرَنَا حُمَيْدُ بْنُ مَسْعَدَةَ، عَنْ بِشْرٍ، - وَهُوَ ابْنُ الْمُفَضَّلِ - قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ أَرَادَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَنْ يَكْتُبَ إِلَى الرُّومِ فَقَالُوا إِنَّهُمْ لاَ يَقْرَءُونَ كِتَابًا إِلاَّ مَخْتُومًا . فَاتَّخَذَ خَاتَمًا مِنْ فِضَّةٍ كَأَنِّي أَنْظُرُ إِلَى بَيَاضِهِ فِي يَدِهِ وَنُقِشَ فِيهِ مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ .
انگریزی ترجمہ
It is narrated that Hadrat Anas (may Allah be well pleased with him) said: "The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) [SAW] wanted to write to the Romans, but they (the Companions) said: 'They do not read any letter unless it has a seal.' So he took a ring of silver, and it is as if I can see its whiteness on his hand, and on it were engraved (the words): "Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) Rasul Allah (Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him))
اردو ترجمہ
حضرت انس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ فرماتے ہیں: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے رومیوں کو خط لکھنا چاہا۔ لوگوں نے عرض کیا: وہ بغیر مہر کے کوئی خط نہیں پڑھتے۔ تو آپ نے چاندی کی انگوٹھی بنوائی اور گویا میں ابھی بھی اس کی سفیدی آپ کے ہاتھ میں دیکھ رہا ہوں۔ اس پر 'محمد رسول اللہ' نقش تھا۔
