Narrated Imran ibn Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him): We performed Hajj Tamattu with the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), and no Quran was revealed concerning it (i.e., forbidding it). Whoever wished said, by his own opinion, whatever he wished (meaning Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), who used to forbid Hajj Tamattu). {It is a point to ponder that when even a Companion like Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said something contrary to the saying of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), the Companions rejected Umar's (may Allah be pleased with him) statement; yet today we and our scholars (even if we do not admit it verbally, yet in practice) abandon the saying of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) (the ahadith) on account of the sayings of the imams. May Allah show us the straight path. Ameen.}
اردو ترجمہ
سیدنا عمران بن حصین رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہہم نے رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے ساتھ حج تمتع کیا اور اس کے بارے میں قرآن نہیں اترا (یعنی اس سے نہی میں) جس شخص نے اپنی رائے سے جو چاہا کہہ دیا۔ (مراد سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ ہیں کہ وہ حج تمتع سے منع کرتے تھے)۔ { مقام غور ہے کہ سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ جیسے صحابی کی بات جب آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکی بات کے خلاف تھی تو صحابہ کرام نے سیدنا عمر رضی اللہ عنہ کی بات کا انکار کر دیا، اور آج ہم اور ہمارے علماء (منہ سے بھلے اقرار نہ کریں لیکن عملاً) اماموں کی بات کی وجہ سے آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکی بات (احادیث) چھوڑ دیتے ہیں۔ اللہ تعالیٰ ہم کو سیدھا رستہ دکھائے آمین }[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 667]
