انگریزی ترجمہ
Narrated Abu al-Aswad: Abu Musa al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) summoned the reciters of Basra, and three hundred reciters who had completed the Qur'an came to him. Abu Musa (may Allah be pleased with him) said to them: You are the best of the people of Basra and its reciters, so keep reciting the Qur'an, and do not grow slack with the passing of a long time, lest your hearts harden as the hearts of those before you hardened. We used to recite a surah which in length and severity of warnings was equal to Bara'ah (al-Tawbah). Then I was made to forget it, except that I remember this much of it: If the son of Adam had two valleys of wealth, he would still seek a third; and nothing fills the belly of the son of Adam but dust. And we used to recite another surah which we regarded as equal to one of the Musabbihat, and I forgot it too, except that I remember this verse of it: "O you who believe, why do you say that which you do not do?" (that is, if you say something you yourselves do not do) it is written upon your necks as a testimony, about which you will be questioned on the Day of Resurrection.
اردو ترجمہ
سیدنا ابوالاسود نے کہا کہسیدنا ابوموسیٰ اشعری رضی اللہ عنہ نے بصرہ کے قاریوں کو بلوایا تو وہ سب تین سو قاری ان کے پاس آئے جو قرآن پڑھ چکے تھے۔ سیدنا ابوموسیٰ رضی اللہ عنہ نے ان سے کہا کہ تم بصرہ کے سب لوگوں سے بہتر ہو اور وہاں کے قاری ہو، پس قرآن پڑھتے رہو اور بہت مدت گزر جانے سے سست نہ ہو جاؤ کہ تمہارے دل سخت ہو جائیں جیسے تم سے پہلوں کے دل سخت ہو گئے اور ہم ایک سورت پڑھا کرتے تھے جو طول میں اور سخت وعیدوں میں”برات“کے برابر تھی۔ پھر میں اسے بھلا دیا گیا مگر اتنی بات یاد رہی کہ اگر آدمی کے لئے مال کے دو میدان ہوتے ہیں تب بھی تیسرا ڈھونڈتا رہتا ہے اور آدمی کا پیٹ نہیں بھرتا مگر مٹی سے۔ اور ہم ایک سورت اور پڑھتے تھے اور اس کو مسبحات میں سے ایک سورت کے برابر جانتے تھے میں وہ بھی بھول گیا مگر اس میں سے یہ آیت یاد ہے کہ”اے ایمان والو! وہ بات کیوں کہتے ہو جو کرتے نہیں“(جو ایسی بات کہتے ہو جو خود نہیں کرتے تو) وہ تمہاری گردنوں میں لکھ دی جاتی ہے گواہی کے طور پر کہ اس کا تم سے قیامت کے دن سوال ہو گا۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 565]
