انگریزی ترجمہ
Narrated Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him): In the time of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) we used to give the zakat al-fitr on behalf of every young and old, free and slave, a sa' of wheat, or a sa' of cheese, or barley, or dates, or raisins. Then, when Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) came for Hajj or 'Umrah, he addressed the people from the pulpit (standing) and said in it: I am of the opinion that two mudds of the wheat of Syria (that is, half a sa') are equal to one sa' of dates (that is, in value). So the people adopted this. But Abu Sa'id (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I shall continue to give out what I used to give (that is, one sa') as long as I live. (Glory be to Allah — this was following the hadith and aversion to opinion and analogy.)
اردو ترجمہ
سیدنا ابو سعید خدری رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہہم رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے دور میں صدقہ فطر ہر چھوٹے بڑے، آزاد اور غلام کی طرف سے ایک صاع گندم یا ایک صاع پنیر یا ’ جو ‘ یا کھجور یا انگور نکالتے تھے پھر جب سیدنا معاویہ رضی اللہ عنہ حج کو یا عمرہ کو آئے تو لوگوں سے منبر پر (کھڑے ہو کر) وعظ کیا اور اس میں کہا میرا خیال ہے کہ شام کی گندم کے دو مد (یعنی نصف صاع) ایک صاع کھجور کے برابر ہوتا ہے۔ (یعنی قیمت میں) سو لوگوں نے اس کو لے لیا۔ اور سیدنا ابوسعید رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا کہ میں تو وہی نکالتا رہوں گا جو نکالتا تھا (یعنی ایک صاع) جب تک جیوں گا۔ (سبحان اللہ یہ اتباع تھا حدیث کا اور نفرت تھی رائے اور قیاس سے)۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 521]
