Sayyiduna al-Mustawrid, of the Banu Fihr, said: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "By Allah, the world in comparison to the Hereafter is like one of you dipping this finger into the sea" — and Yahya pointed with his index finger — "then let him see how much moisture it brings out (i.e., however much water clings to the finger, that is the world, and the sea is the Hereafter. This is the ratio of the world to the Hereafter, and since the world is perishing while the Hereafter is everlasting and enduring, it is even less than that)."
اردو ترجمہ
سیدنا مستوراخی بنی فہر کہتے ہیں کہرسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ اللہ کی قسم دنیا آخرت کے سامنے ایسے ہے جیسے تم میں سے کوئی یہ انگلی دریا میں ڈالے (اور یحییٰ نے اپنی شہادت کی انگلی سے اشارہ کیا)، پھر دیکھے کہ کتنی تری دریا میں سے لاتا ہے (تو جتنا پانی انگلی میں لگا رہتا ہے وہ گویا دنیا ہے اور وہ دریا آخرت ہے۔ یہ نسبت دنیا کو آخرت سے ہے اور چونکہ دنیا فانی ہے اور آخرت دائمی باقی ہے، اس واسطے اس سے بھی کم ہے)۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 2082]
