Narrated Awf bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him): A man of Himyar (the tribe of Himyar) killed one of the enemy and wished to take his belongings, but Khalid bin al-Walid (may Allah be pleased with him), who was the commander of the army (on behalf of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him), did not give it to him. Awf bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and related this to him (peace be upon him). So he (peace be upon him) said to Khalid (may Allah be pleased with him), "Why did you not give him the belongings?" Khalid (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "O Messenger of Allah! Those belongings were very great (so I did not think it proper to give them all)." He (peace be upon him) said: "Give the belongings to him." Then Khalid (may Allah be pleased with him) went out with Awf (may Allah be pleased with him), and Awf (may Allah be pleased with him), tugging at his cloak, said, "I told the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), and in the end it happened as I said, did it not?" (that is, he embarrassed Khalid, may Allah be pleased with him, that in the end he had to give the belongings). The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) heard this and, becoming angry, said: "O Khalid! Do not give it to him. O Khalid! Do not give it to him. Are you going to abandon my commanders to me? The likeness of you and them is as if someone took camels or sheep to graze, then grazed them and, seeing the time of their thirst, brought them to a trough, and they began to drink. Then they drank up the clear water and left the dregs. So the clear (that is, the good things) is for you, and the bad things are upon the commanders (that is, the disgrace and accountability fall upon them)." [Mukhtasar Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 1143]
اردو ترجمہ
سیدنا عوف بن مالک رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہحمیر (قبیلہ حمیر) کے ایک شخص نے دشمنوں میں سے ایک شخص کو مارا اور اس کا سامان لینا چاہا لیکن سیدنا خالد بن ولید رضی اللہ عنہ (جو رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکی طرف سے) لشکر کے سردار تھے نے نہ دیا۔ سیدنا عوف بن مالک رضی اللہ عنہ رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمکے پاس آئے اور آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمسے یہ حال بیان کیا، تو آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے خالد رضی اللہ عنہ سے فرمایا کہ تم نے اس کو سامان کیوں نہ دیا؟ سیدنا خالد رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا کہ یا رسول اللہ! وہ سامان بہت زیادہ تھا (تو میں نے وہ سب دینا مناسب نہ جانا)۔ آپصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے فرمایا کہ وہ سامان اس کو دیدے۔ پھر سیدنا خالد رضی اللہ عنہ، سیدنا عوف رضی اللہ عنہ کے ساتھ نکلے، تو سیدنا عوف رضی اللہ عنہ نے ان کی چادر کھینچتے ہوئے کہا کہ میں نے رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمسے بیان کیا، آخر وہی ہوا نا (یعنی سیدنا خالد رضی اللہ عنہ کو شرمندہ کیا کہ آخر تمہیں سامان دینا پڑا) یہ بات رسول اللہصلی اللہ علیہ وسلمنے سن لی اور غضبناک ہو کر فرمایا: اے خالد! اس کو مت دے اے خالد! اس کو مت دے۔ کیا تم میرے سرداروں کو چھوڑنے والے ہو؟ تمہاری اور ان کی مثال ایسی ہے جیسے کسی نے اونٹ یا بکریاں چرانے کو لیں، پھر ان کو چرایا اور ان کی پیاس کا وقت دیکھ کر حوض پر لایا، تو انہوں نے پینا شروع کیا۔ پھر صاف صاف پی گئیں اور تلچھٹ چھوڑ دیا، تو صاف (یعنی اچھی باتیں) تو تمہارے لئے اور بری باتیں سرداروں پر ہیں (یعنی بدنامی اور مواخذہ ان سے ہو)۔[مختصر صحيح مسلم/حدیث: 1143]
