Muhammad ibn al-Ala al-Hamdani narrated to us, he said Ibn Numayr narrated to us, he said Hisham narrated to us, from Hadrat Fatima (bint al-Mundhir), from Hadrat Asma (bint Abi Bakr) (may Allah be well pleased with her), she said: There was a solar eclipse during the time of the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). I went to Umm al-Mu'minin Hadrat Aisha (may Allah be well pleased with her) and she was praying. I asked: What is the matter with the people that they are praying? She gestured with her head towards the sky. I said: Is it a sign? She said: Yes. The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stood for an extremely long time in prayer until I was about to faint, so I took a waterskin beside me and began pouring water on my head or my face. She said: Then the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) concluded (the prayer) and the sun had become bright. The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) then addressed the people, praised and glorified Allah, then stated: 'As for what follows: there is nothing that I had not seen before except that I have now seen it in this standing of mine, including Paradise and the Fire. And it has been revealed to me that you will be tested in the graves, close to or like the trial of the Dajjal — I do not know which of these Asma said — then each of you will be brought and asked: What is your knowledge of this man? As for the believer or the one with certainty — I do not know which of these Asma said — he will say: He is Muhammad, he is the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), he came to us with clear proofs and guidance, so we accepted and obeyed, (saying this) three times. Then it will be said to him: Sleep, we knew that you believed in him, so sleep peacefully. As for the hypocrite or the doubter — I do not know which of these Asma said — he will say: I do not know, I heard the people saying something so I said (the same).'

ہم سے محمد بن علاء ہمدانی نے حدیث بیان کی، کہا ہم سے ابن نمیر نے حدیث بیان کی، کہا ہم سے ہشام نے بیان کیا، انہوں نے فاطمہ (بنت منذر) سے، انہوں نے حضرت اسماء (بنت ابی بکر) رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا سے روایت کی، انہوں نے فرمایا: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے عہد مبارک میں سورج کو گرہن لگ گیا، چنانچہ میں حضرت اُمّ المؤمنین عائشہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا کے پاس آئی اور وہ نماز پڑھ رہی تھیں، میں نے پوچھا: لوگوں کو کیا ہوا، وہ نماز پڑھ رہے ہیں؟ انہوں نے اپنے سر سے آسمان کی طرف اشارہ فرمایا۔ میں نے کہا: کیا کوئی نشانی ہے؟ فرمایا: ہاں۔ پھر رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے انتہائی طویل قیام فرمایا، یہاں تک کہ مجھ پر غشی طاری ہونے لگی، تو میں نے اپنے پہلو میں رکھی ہوئی پانی کی مشک لی اور اپنے سر پر یا اپنے چہرے پر پانی ڈالنے لگی۔ فرماتی ہیں: پھر رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم (نماز سے) فارغ ہوئے اور سورج روشن ہو چکا تھا، پھر رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے لوگوں سے خطاب فرمایا، اللہ تعالیٰ کی حمد و ثنا بیان فرمائی، پھر ارشاد فرمایا: "امّا بعد! جو چیز میں نے (پہلے) نہیں دیکھی تھی وہ (سب) اپنی اس جگہ (کھڑے ہو کر) دیکھ لی ہے، یہاں تک کہ جنت اور دوزخ بھی۔ اور مجھ پر وحی کی گئی ہے کہ تم قبروں میں آزمائے جاؤ گے، (اور یہ فتنہ) مسیح دجال کے فتنے کے قریب ہے یا اس کی مانند ہے — مجھے نہیں معلوم اسماء رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا نے ان دونوں میں سے کون سا لفظ کہا — پھر تم میں سے (ہر) کسی کو لایا جائے گا اور اس سے پوچھا جائے گا: اس شخص کے بارے میں تمہارا علم کیا ہے؟ پس مومن یا موقن — مجھے معلوم نہیں اسماء رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا نے کون سا لفظ کہا — کہے گا: وہ محمد صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم ہیں، وہ اللہ کے رسول ہیں، ہمارے پاس واضح نشانیاں اور ہدایت لے کر تشریف لائے، تو ہم نے قبول کیا اور اطاعت کی، (یہ بات) تین مرتبہ (کہے گا)، پھر اس سے کہا جائے گا: سو جا، ہم جانتے تھے کہ تو ان پر ایمان رکھتا تھا، پس سکون سے سو جا۔ اور رہا منافق یا شک کرنے والا — مجھے معلوم نہیں اسماء رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہا نے کون سا لفظ کہا — وہ کہے گا: مجھے نہیں معلوم، میں نے لوگوں کو کچھ کہتے سنا تھا تو میں نے بھی (وہی) کہہ دیا۔"
