Hadrat Thabit narrated from Abdullah ibn Rabah, from Hadrat Abu Qatadah (may Allah be well pleased with him), who said: The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) addressed us and said: 'You will travel in the evening and the night, till — God willing — you will come to a place of water by tomorrow.' The people set off, none turning to look at another. Hadrat Abu Qatadah (may Allah be well pleased with him) said: The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) continued travelling until midnight, and I was riding beside him. He began to doze and leaned to one side of his camel. I came to him and supported him without awakening him until he sat upright on his mount. He continued until the greater part of the night had passed, then he leaned again. I supported him without awakening him until he sat upright. Then he continued until near dawn, when he leaned more heavily than the two previous times and was about to fall off. I came to him and supported him, and he raised his blessed head and said: 'Who is this?' I submitted: Hadrat Abu Qatadah. He said: 'How long have you been riding alongside me like this?' I submitted: I have been riding this way since the night. He said: 'May Allah protect you as you have protected His the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him).' Then he said: 'Do you see that we are hidden from the people?' Then he asked: 'Do you see anyone?' I submitted: Here is a rider. Then I said: Here is another rider — until we gathered together and were seven riders. The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) turned aside from the road, placed his head down (and lay down), then said: 'Guard our prayer for us.' The first to awake was the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) himself, with the sun shining on his back. We rose in alarm. He said: 'Mount up.' We mounted and rode on until the sun had risen high, then he dismounted. He asked for the water vessel that was with me, which had a little water in it. He performed a lighter ablution than his usual one, and some water remained in it. He said to Hadrat Abu Qatadah (may Allah be well pleased with him): 'Keep your water vessel safe for us; it will have a remarkable matter about it.' Then Hadrat Bilal (may Allah be well pleased with him) called the Adhan for prayer. The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) prayed two rak'ahs (Sunnah), then led the Fajr prayer as he did every day. Then the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) mounted and we mounted with him. Some of us began whispering to each other: What is the expiation for our omission in prayer? He said: 'Is there not in me (my life) a model for you?' Then he said: 'Know that there is no negligence in sleeping. The negligence is only of the one who does not pray until the time of the next prayer comes. Whoever does so (sleeps through a prayer), let him pray it when he awakens for it, and on the next day let him observe it at its prescribed time.' Then he said: 'What do you think the people did?' Then he said: 'When the people found the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) missing in the morning, Hadrat Abu Bakr and Hadrat Umar (may Allah be well pleased with them both) said: The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) is behind you; he would not leave you behind. But the people said: The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) is ahead of you. Had they obeyed Hadrat Abu Bakr and Umar, they would have gone on the right path.' We reached the people when the day had risen high and everything had become hot, and they were saying: O Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), we are dying of thirst! He said: 'No destruction shall come upon you.' Then he said: 'Bring me my small cup.' The water vessel was brought. The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) poured (into the cup) and Hadrat Abu Qatadah (may Allah be well pleased with him) served the people. When the people saw the little water in the vessel, they crowded around it. The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: 'Behave well; the water is enough to satiate all of you.' They received their shares calmly. The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) kept pouring and I kept serving until no one remained except me and the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him). He poured water and said to me: 'Drink.' I submitted: O Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), I shall not drink until you drink. He said: 'The server of the people is the last among them to drink.' So I drank and the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) also drank. The people then reached the next water source with full vessels and well satiated. (Thabit said:) Abdullah ibn Rabah said: I shall narrate this hadith in the great mosque. Hadrat 'Imran ibn Husayn (may Allah be well pleased with him) said: Watch, O young man, how you narrate, for I was also one of the riders that night. He submitted: Then you must know this hadith better. He asked: Which tribe are you from? I said: From the Ansar. He said: Narrate, for you know your hadiths better (since Hadrat Abu Qatadah, may Allah be well pleased with him, an Ansari, had witnessed the whole event most closely, staying beside the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), blessings and peace of Allah be upon him, throughout, and Abdullah ibn Rabah who heard from him was also an Ansari). He said: I narrated the hadith to the people, and Hadrat 'Imran (may Allah be well pleased with him) said: I was also present that night, and I do not think anyone has remembered it as well as you have.

ثابت نے عبداللہ بن رباح سے اور انھوں نے حضرت ابو قتادہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت کی، فرمایا: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ہمیں خطاب فرمایا اور کہا: ''تم اپنی (پوری) شام اور (پوری) رات چلتے رہو گے تو ان شاء اللہ کل تک پانی پر پہنچ جاؤ گے۔'' لوگ چل پڑے، کوئی مڑ کر دوسرے کی طرف دیکھتا بھی نہ تھا۔ حضرت ابو قتادہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے فرمایا: اسی عالم میں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم چلتے رہے یہاں تک کہ رات آدھی گزر گئی، میں آپ کے پہلو میں چل رہا تھا، فرمایا: تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کو اونگھ آ گئی اور آپ سواری سے ایک طرف جھک گئے، میں آپ کے پاس آیا اور آپ کو جگائے بغیر آپ کو سہارا دیا حتی کہ آپ اپنی سواری پر سیدھے ہو گئے۔ پھر آپ چلتے رہے یہاں تک کہ رات کا بیشتر حصہ گزر گیا، آپ (پھر) سواری پر (ایک طرف) جھکے، فرمایا: میں نے آپ کو جگائے بغیر آپ کو سہارا دیا یہاں تک کہ آپ اپنی سواری پر سیدھے ہو گئے۔ فرمایا: پھر چلتے رہے حتی کہ سحری کا آخری وقت تھا تو آپ (پھر) جھکے، یہ جھکنا پہلے دونوں بار کے جھکنے سے زیادہ تھا، قریب تھا کہ آپ اونٹ سے گر پڑتے، میں آپ کے پاس آیا اور آپ کو سہارا دیا تو آپ نے اپنا سرِ مبارک اٹھایا اور فرمایا: ''یہ کون ہے؟'' میں نے عرض کی: حضرت ابو قتادہ ہوں۔ فرمایا: ''تم کب سے میرے ساتھ اس طرح چل رہے ہو؟'' میں نے عرض کی: میں رات ہی سے اس طرح سفر کر رہا ہوں۔ فرمایا: ''اللہ اسی طرح تمھاری حفاظت کرے جس طرح تم نے اس کے نبی کی حفاظت کی۔'' پھر فرمایا: ''کیا تم دیکھ رہے ہو (کہ) ہم لوگوں سے اوجھل ہیں؟'' پھر پوچھا: ''تمھیں کوئی (اور) نظر آ رہا ہے؟'' میں نے عرض کی: یہ ایک سوار ہے۔ پھر عرض کی: یہ ایک اور سوار ہے حتی کہ ہم اکٹھے ہوئے تو سات سوار تھے۔ فرمایا: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم راستے سے ایک طرف ہٹے، پھر سر (نیچے) رکھ دیا (اور لیٹ گئے) پھر فرمایا: ''ہمارے لیے ہماری نماز کا خیال رکھنا۔'' پھر جو سب سے پہلے جاگے وہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم ہی تھے، سورج آپ کی پشت پر (چمک رہا) تھا، فرمایا: ہم سخت تشویش کے عالم میں کھڑے ہوئے، پھر آپ نے فرمایا: ''سوار ہو جاؤ۔'' ہم سوار ہوئے اور (آگے) چل پڑے حتی کہ جب سورج بلند ہو گیا تو آپ اترے، پھر آپ نے وضو کا برتن مانگا جو میرے ساتھ تھا، اسی میں کچھ پانی تھا، فرمایا: پھر آپ نے اس سے (مکمل) وضو کے مقابلے میں کچھ ہلکا وضو کیا، اور اس میں کچھ پانی بچ بھی گیا، پھر آپ نے حضرت ابو قتادہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے فرمایا: ''ہمارے لیے اپنے وضو کا برتن محفوظ رکھنا، اس کی ایک خبر ہو گی۔'' پھر حضرت بلال رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے نماز کے لیے اذان کہی، رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے دو رکعتیں پڑھیں، پھر آپ نے اسی طرح جس طرح روزانہ کرتے تھے صبح کی نماز پڑھائی۔ فرمایا: اور رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم سوار ہو گئے ہم بھی آپ کی معیت میں سوار ہو گئے۔ فرمایا: ہم میں سے کچھ لوگ ایک دوسرے سے سرگوشی کرنے لگے کہ ہم نے نماز میں جو کوتاہی کی ہے اس کا کفارہ کیا ہے؟ اس پر آپ نے فرمایا: ''کیا تمھارے لیے میرے عمل میں نمونہ نہیں؟'' پھر آپ نے فرمایا: ''سمجھ لو! نیند (آ جانے) میں (کسی کی) کوئی کوتاہی نہیں۔ کوتاہی اس کی ہے جس نے (جاگنے کے بعد) دوسری نماز کا وقت آ جانے تک نماز نہیں پڑھی۔ جو اس طرح (نیند) کرے تو جب اس کے لیے جاگے تو یہ نماز پڑھ لے، پھر جب دوسرا دن آئے تو اسے وقت پر ادا کرے۔'' پھر فرمایا: ''تم کیا دیکھتے ہو (دوسرے) لوگوں نے کیا کیا؟'' فرمایا: پھر آپ نے فرمایا: ''لوگوں نے صبح کی تو اپنے نبی کو گم پایا۔ حضرت ابو بکر اور حضرت عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما نے کہا: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم تمھارے پیچھے ہیں، وہ ایسے نہیں کہ تمھیں پیچھے چھوڑ دیں۔ (دوسرے) لوگوں نے کہا: بے شک رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم تم سے آگے ہیں۔ اگر وہ حضرت ابو بکر اور حضرت عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما کی اطاعت کریں تو صحیح راستے پر چلیں گے۔'' فرمایا: تو ہم لوگوں تک (اس وقت) پہنچ پائے جب دن چڑھ آیا تھا اور ہر شے تپ گئی تھی اور وہ کہہ رہے تھے: یا رسول اللہ! ہم پیاسے مر گئے۔ تو آپ نے فرمایا: ''تم پر کوئی ہلاکت نہیں آئی۔'' پھر فرمایا: ''میرا چھوٹا پیالہ میرے پاس لاؤ۔'' فرمایا: پھر وضو کے پانی والا برتن منگوایا، رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم (اس سے پیالے میں) انڈیلتے گئے اور حضرت ابو قتادہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ لوگوں کو پلاتے گئے۔ زیادہ دیر نہ گزری تھی کہ لوگوں نے وضو کے برتن میں جو (تھوڑا سا پانی) تھا، دیکھ لیا، اس پر جھرمٹ بنا کر اکٹھے ہو گئے تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ''اچھا طریقہ اختیار کرو، تم میں سے ہر ایک اچھی طرح پیاس بجھا لے گا۔'' فرمایا: لوگوں نے ایسا ہی کیا، رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم پانی (پیالے میں) انڈیلتے گئے اور میں لوگوں کو پلاتا گیا یہاں تک کہ میرے اور رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے سوا اور کوئی نہ بچا۔ فرمایا: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے پھر پانی ڈالا اور مجھ سے فرمایا: ''پیو۔'' میں نے عرض کی: یا رسول اللہ! جب تک آپ نہیں پی لیں گے میں نہیں پیوں گا۔ فرمایا: ''قوم کو پانی پلانے والا ان سب سے آخر میں پیتا ہے۔'' فرمایا: تب میں نے پی لیا اور رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے بھی نوش فرمایا۔ فرمایا: اس کے بعد لوگ اس حالت میں (اگلے) پانی پر پہنچے کہ سب (نے اپنے) برتن پانی سے بھرے ہوئے تھے اور (خوب) سیراب تھے۔ (ثابت نے) کہا: عبداللہ بن رباح نے فرمایا: میں یہ حدیث جامع مسجد میں سب لوگوں کو سناؤں گا۔ تب حضرت عمران بن حصین رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے فرمایا: اے جوان! خیال رکھنا کہ تم کس طرح حدیث بیان کرتے ہو، اس رات میں بھی قافلے کے سواروں میں سے ایک تھا۔ فرمایا: میں نے عرض کی: آپ اس حدیث کو زیادہ جاننے والے ہیں۔ تو انھوں نے پوچھا: تم کس قبیلے سے ہو؟ میں نے کہا: انصار سے۔ فرمایا: حدیث بیان کرو، تم اپنی احادیث سے زیادہ آگاہ ہو (انصار میں سے حضرت ابو قتادہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے اس سارے واقعے کا سب سے زیادہ اور باریکی سے مشاہدہ کیا تھا بلکہ وہ اس سارے واقعے میں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے ساتھ ساتھ تھے، آگے ان سے سننے والے عبداللہ بن رباح بھی انصار میں سے تھے)۔ فرمایا: میں نے لوگوں کو حدیث سنائی تو حضرت عمران رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے فرمایا: اس رات میں بھی موجود تھا اور میں نہیں سمجھتا کہ اسے کسی نے اس طرح یاد رکھا جس طرح تم نے اسے یاد رکھا ہے۔

ثابت نے عبداللہ بن رباح سے اور انھوں نے حضرت ابو قتادہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت کی، فرمایا: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ہمیں خطاب فرمایا اور کہا: ''تم اپنی (پوری) شام اور (پوری) رات چلتے رہو گے تو ان شاء اللہ کل تک پانی پر پہنچ جاؤ گے۔'' لوگ چل پڑے، کوئی مڑ کر دوسرے کی طرف دیکھتا بھی نہ تھا۔ حضرت ابو قتادہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے فرمایا: اسی عالم میں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم چلتے رہے یہاں تک کہ رات آدھی گزر گئی، میں آپ کے پہلو میں چل رہا تھا، فرمایا: تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کو اونگھ آ گئی اور آپ سواری سے ایک طرف جھک گئے، میں آپ کے پاس آیا اور آپ کو جگائے بغیر آپ کو سہارا دیا حتی کہ آپ اپنی سواری پر سیدھے ہو گئے۔ پھر آپ چلتے رہے یہاں تک کہ رات کا بیشتر حصہ گزر گیا، آپ (پھر) سواری پر (ایک طرف) جھکے، فرمایا: میں نے آپ کو جگائے بغیر آپ کو سہارا دیا یہاں تک کہ آپ اپنی سواری پر سیدھے ہو گئے۔ فرمایا: پھر چلتے رہے حتی کہ سحری کا آخری وقت تھا تو آپ (پھر) جھکے، یہ جھکنا پہلے دونوں بار کے جھکنے سے زیادہ تھا، قریب تھا کہ آپ اونٹ سے گر پڑتے، میں آپ کے پاس آیا اور آپ کو سہارا دیا تو آپ نے اپنا سرِ مبارک اٹھایا اور فرمایا: ''یہ کون ہے؟'' میں نے عرض کی: حضرت ابو قتادہ ہوں۔ فرمایا: ''تم کب سے میرے ساتھ اس طرح چل رہے ہو؟'' میں نے عرض کی: میں رات ہی سے اس طرح سفر کر رہا ہوں۔ فرمایا: ''اللہ اسی طرح تمھاری حفاظت کرے جس طرح تم نے اس کے نبی کی حفاظت کی۔'' پھر فرمایا: ''کیا تم دیکھ رہے ہو (کہ) ہم لوگوں سے اوجھل ہیں؟'' پھر پوچھا: ''تمھیں کوئی (اور) نظر آ رہا ہے؟'' میں نے عرض کی: یہ ایک سوار ہے۔ پھر عرض کی: یہ ایک اور سوار ہے حتی کہ ہم اکٹھے ہوئے تو سات سوار تھے۔ فرمایا: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم راستے سے ایک طرف ہٹے، پھر سر (نیچے) رکھ دیا (اور لیٹ گئے) پھر فرمایا: ''ہمارے لیے ہماری نماز کا خیال رکھنا۔'' پھر جو سب سے پہلے جاگے وہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم ہی تھے، سورج آپ کی پشت پر (چمک رہا) تھا، فرمایا: ہم سخت تشویش کے عالم میں کھڑے ہوئے، پھر آپ نے فرمایا: ''سوار ہو جاؤ۔'' ہم سوار ہوئے اور (آگے) چل پڑے حتی کہ جب سورج بلند ہو گیا تو آپ اترے، پھر آپ نے وضو کا برتن مانگا جو میرے ساتھ تھا، اسی میں کچھ پانی تھا، فرمایا: پھر آپ نے اس سے (مکمل) وضو کے مقابلے میں کچھ ہلکا وضو کیا، اور اس میں کچھ پانی بچ بھی گیا، پھر آپ نے حضرت ابو قتادہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے فرمایا: ''ہمارے لیے اپنے وضو کا برتن محفوظ رکھنا، اس کی ایک خبر ہو گی۔'' پھر حضرت بلال رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے نماز کے لیے اذان کہی، رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے دو رکعتیں پڑھیں، پھر آپ نے اسی طرح جس طرح روزانہ کرتے تھے صبح کی نماز پڑھائی۔ فرمایا: اور رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم سوار ہو گئے ہم بھی آپ کی معیت میں سوار ہو گئے۔ فرمایا: ہم میں سے کچھ لوگ ایک دوسرے سے سرگوشی کرنے لگے کہ ہم نے نماز میں جو کوتاہی کی ہے اس کا کفارہ کیا ہے؟ اس پر آپ نے فرمایا: ''کیا تمھارے لیے میرے عمل میں نمونہ نہیں؟'' پھر آپ نے فرمایا: ''سمجھ لو! نیند (آ جانے) میں (کسی کی) کوئی کوتاہی نہیں۔ کوتاہی اس کی ہے جس نے (جاگنے کے بعد) دوسری نماز کا وقت آ جانے تک نماز نہیں پڑھی۔ جو اس طرح (نیند) کرے تو جب اس کے لیے جاگے تو یہ نماز پڑھ لے، پھر جب دوسرا دن آئے تو اسے وقت پر ادا کرے۔'' پھر فرمایا: ''تم کیا دیکھتے ہو (دوسرے) لوگوں نے کیا کیا؟'' فرمایا: پھر آپ نے فرمایا: ''لوگوں نے صبح کی تو اپنے نبی کو گم پایا۔ حضرت ابو بکر اور حضرت عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما نے کہا: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم تمھارے پیچھے ہیں، وہ ایسے نہیں کہ تمھیں پیچھے چھوڑ دیں۔ (دوسرے) لوگوں نے کہا: بے شک رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم تم سے آگے ہیں۔ اگر وہ حضرت ابو بکر اور حضرت عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہما کی اطاعت کریں تو صحیح راستے پر چلیں گے۔'' فرمایا: تو ہم لوگوں تک (اس وقت) پہنچ پائے جب دن چڑھ آیا تھا اور ہر شے تپ گئی تھی اور وہ کہہ رہے تھے: یا رسول اللہ! ہم پیاسے مر گئے۔ تو آپ نے فرمایا: ''تم پر کوئی ہلاکت نہیں آئی۔'' پھر فرمایا: ''میرا چھوٹا پیالہ میرے پاس لاؤ۔'' فرمایا: پھر وضو کے پانی والا برتن منگوایا، رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم (اس سے پیالے میں) انڈیلتے گئے اور حضرت ابو قتادہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ لوگوں کو پلاتے گئے۔ زیادہ دیر نہ گزری تھی کہ لوگوں نے وضو کے برتن میں جو (تھوڑا سا پانی) تھا، دیکھ لیا، اس پر جھرمٹ بنا کر اکٹھے ہو گئے تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ''اچھا طریقہ اختیار کرو، تم میں سے ہر ایک اچھی طرح پیاس بجھا لے گا۔'' فرمایا: لوگوں نے ایسا ہی کیا، رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم پانی (پیالے میں) انڈیلتے گئے اور میں لوگوں کو پلاتا گیا یہاں تک کہ میرے اور رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے سوا اور کوئی نہ بچا۔ فرمایا: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے پھر پانی ڈالا اور مجھ سے فرمایا: ''پیو۔'' میں نے عرض کی: یا رسول اللہ! جب تک آپ نہیں پی لیں گے میں نہیں پیوں گا۔ فرمایا: ''قوم کو پانی پلانے والا ان سب سے آخر میں پیتا ہے۔'' فرمایا: تب میں نے پی لیا اور رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے بھی نوش فرمایا۔ فرمایا: اس کے بعد لوگ اس حالت میں (اگلے) پانی پر پہنچے کہ سب (نے اپنے) برتن پانی سے بھرے ہوئے تھے اور (خوب) سیراب تھے۔ (ثابت نے) کہا: عبداللہ بن رباح نے فرمایا: میں یہ حدیث جامع مسجد میں سب لوگوں کو سناؤں گا۔ تب حضرت عمران بن حصین رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے فرمایا: اے جوان! خیال رکھنا کہ تم کس طرح حدیث بیان کرتے ہو، اس رات میں بھی قافلے کے سواروں میں سے ایک تھا۔ فرمایا: میں نے عرض کی: آپ اس حدیث کو زیادہ جاننے والے ہیں۔ تو انھوں نے پوچھا: تم کس قبیلے سے ہو؟ میں نے کہا: انصار سے۔ فرمایا: حدیث بیان کرو، تم اپنی احادیث سے زیادہ آگاہ ہو (انصار میں سے حضرت ابو قتادہ رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے اس سارے واقعے کا سب سے زیادہ اور باریکی سے مشاہدہ کیا تھا بلکہ وہ اس سارے واقعے میں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے ساتھ ساتھ تھے، آگے ان سے سننے والے عبداللہ بن رباح بھی انصار میں سے تھے)۔ فرمایا: میں نے لوگوں کو حدیث سنائی تو حضرت عمران رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے فرمایا: اس رات میں بھی موجود تھا اور میں نہیں سمجھتا کہ اسے کسی نے اس طرح یاد رکھا جس طرح تم نے اسے یاد رکھا ہے۔
