وَعَنْ أَنَسٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَرَادَ أَنْ يَكْتُبَ إِلَى كِسْرَى وَقَيْصَرَ وَالنَّجَاشِيِّ فَقِيلَ: إِنَّهُمْ لَا يَقْبَلُونَ كِتَابًا إِلَّا بِخَاتَمٍ فَصَاغَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَاتَمًا حَلْقَةَ فِضَّةٍ نُقِشَ فِيهِ: مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ. رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ. وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ لِلْبُخَارِيِّ: كَانَ نَقْشُ الْخَاتَمِ ثَلَاثَةَ أَسْطُرٍ: مُحَمَّدٌ سَطْرٌ ورسولُ الله سطر وَالله سطر
انگریزی ترجمہ
Hadrat Anas said that when the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) wanted to write to the Persian Emperor, the Byzantine Emperor and the Negus he was told that they would not accept a letter without a seal; so God’s messenger fashioned a seal in the form of a silver ring on which he engraved “Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) God’s messenger.” Muslim transmitted it. A version by Bukhari says the engraving on the seal was in three lines, “Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him)” being one, “messenger” another, and “of God” another.
اردو ترجمہ
حضرت انس رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ نبی اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے کسریٰ، قیصر اور نجاشی کو خط لکھنا چاہا تو بتایا گیا کہ وہ بغیر مہر والا خط قبول نہیں کرتے۔ پس رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے چاندی کی انگوٹھی بنوائی جس پر ''محمد رسول اللہ'' کندہ تھا۔ (مسلم) بخاری کی ایک روایت میں ہے: مہر کا نقش تین سطروں میں تھا: محمد ایک سطر، رسول ایک سطر اور اللہ ایک سطر۔
