It is narrated that Hadrat 'Umar (may Allah be well pleased with him) said: "We were sitting with the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) when a man came to him whose clothes were intensely white and whose hair was intensely black; no signs of travel could be seen upon him, and none of us recognized him. He sat down facing the Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), with his knees touching his, and he put his hands on his thighs, and said: 'O Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), what is Islam?' He said: 'To testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah, and that I am the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), to establish regular prayer, to pay Zakat, to fast in Ramadan, and to perform Hajj to the House (the Sacred Ka'bah).' He said: 'You have spoken the truth.' We were amazed by him: He asked a question, then told him that he had spoken the truth. Then he said: 'O Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), what is Iman faith? He said: 'To believe in Allah, His angels, His Messengers, His books, the Last day, and the Divine Decree (Qadar), both the good of it and the bad of it.' He said' You have spoken the truth.' We were amazed by him. He asked a question, then told him that he had spoken the truth. Then he said: 'O Muhammad (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), what is Ihsan (right action, goodness, sincerity)? He said: 'To worship Allah as if you see Him, for even though you do not see Him, He sees you.' He asked: "When will the Hour be?' He said: 'The one who is being asked about it does not know more than the one who is asking.' He asked: 'Then what are its signs?' he said: 'When the slave woman gives birth to her mistress' (Waki' said: This means when non-Arabs will give birth to Arabs") 'and when you see barefoot, naked, destitute shepherds competing in constructing tall buildings.' The Noble Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) met me three days later and asked me: 'Do you know who that man was? I said" 'Allah and his Messenger know best.' He said: 'That was Jibril, who came to you to teach you your religion
اردو ترجمہ
حضرت عمر بن الخطاب رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ فرماتے ہیں کہ ہم نبی اکرم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے پاس بیٹھے ہوئے تھے کہ اچانک ایک شخص آیا، جس کے کپڑے انتہائی سفید اور سر کے بال نہایت کالے تھے، اس پہ سفر کے آثار ظاہر نہیں تھے، اور ہم میں سے کوئی اسے پہچانتا بھی نہ تھا، وہ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے پاس بیٹھ گیا، اور اپنا گھٹنا آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کے گھٹنے سے ملا لیا، اور اپنے دونوں ہاتھ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی دونوں ران پر رکھا، پھر بولا: اے محمد! اسلام کیا ہے؟ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: اس بات کی گواہی دینا کہ اللہ کے سوا کوئی معبود برحق نہیں، اور میں اللہ کا رسول ہوں، نماز قائم کرنا، زکاۃ ادا کرنا، رمضان کے روزے رکھنا، اور خانہ کعبہ کا حج کرنا ، اس نے کہا: آپ نے سچ فرمایا، تو ہمیں تعجب ہوا کہ خود ہی سوال کر رہا ہے، اور خود ہی جواب کی تصدیق بھی۔ پھر اس نے کہا: اے محمد! ایمان کیا ہے؟ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: ایمان یہ ہے کہ تم اللہ اور اس کے فرشتوں، اس کے رسولوں، اس کی کتابوں، یوم آخرت، اور بھلی بری تقدیر پر ایمان رکھو ، اس نے کہا: آپ نے سچ فرمایا، تو ہمیں تعجب ہوا کہ خود ہی سوال کر رہا ہے، اور خود ہی جواب کی تصدیق بھی۔ پھر اس نے کہا: اے محمد! احسان کیا ہے؟ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: تم اللہ کی عبادت اس طرح کرو گویا کہ تم اس کو دیکھ رہے ہو، اگر تم اس کو نہیں دیکھتے ہو تو یقین رکھو کہ وہ تم کو ضرور دیکھ رہا ہے ۔ پھر اس نے پوچھا: قیامت کب آئے گی؟ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: جس سے پوچھ رہے ہو، وہ پوچھنے والے سے زیادہ نہیں جانتا ۱؎۔ پھر اس نے پوچھا: اس کی نشانیاں کیا ہیں؟ آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: لونڈی اپنے مالکن کو جنے گی ( وکیع راوی حدیث نے کہا: یعنی عجمی عورتیں عرب کو جنیں گی ) ۲؎ اور تم ننگے پاؤں، ننگے بدن، فقیر و محتاج بکریوں کے چرواہوں کو دیکھو گے کہ وہ بڑی بڑی کوٹھیوں اور محلات کے بنانے میں فخر و مسابقت سے کام لیں گے ۔ راوی کہتے ہیں: پھر عمر رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ نے کہا کہ نبی اکرم صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم مجھ سے تین دن کے بعد ملے، آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: کیا تم جانتے ہو وہ شخص کون تھا؟ ، میں نے کہا: اللہ اور اس کے رسول بہتر جانتے ہیں، آپ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: یہ جبرائیل تھے جو تمہیں تمہارے دین کی اہم اور بنیادی باتیں سکھانے آئے تھے ۳؎۔
