Hadrat al-Harith al-Ash'ari (may Allah be well pleased with him) narrated that the Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: "Indeed, Allah Almighty commanded Yahya ibn Zakariyya with five words to act upon them and to command the Children of Isra'il to act upon them. 'Isa said to him: 'Indeed, Allah has commanded you with five words to act upon them and to command the Children of Isra'il to act upon them. Either you command them, or I will command them.' So he gathered the people in Bayt al-Maqdis until it was full and they sat upon the balconies. He admonished them and stated: 'Indeed, Allah Almighty has commanded me with five words to act upon them and to command you to act upon them. The first is that you worship Allah and associate nothing with Him. The likeness of that is like a man who bought a slave with his pure wealth — gold or silver — and said to him: This is my house and this is my work. The slave began working but paying another master. Which of you would be pleased for his slave to be like that? Indeed, Allah created you and provides for you, so worship Him and associate nothing with Him. And I command you with prayer — when you pray, do not turn away, for indeed when the servant does not turn away, Allah faces him with His countenance. And I command you with fasting, and its likeness is like a man with a pouch of musk among a group who are pleased to smell its fragrance — indeed, fasting with Allah is more pleasant than the scent of musk. And I command you with charity, and its likeness is like a man whom the enemy captured and bound his hand to his neck and intended to strike his neck. He said: Will you allow me to ransom myself? So he began giving them little and much to free himself from them. And I command you with the remembrance of Allah, and its likeness is like a man whose enemy pursued him swiftly. He came upon a fortress and secured himself within it. Likewise, the servant does not protect himself from Shaytan except through the remembrance of Allah.' The Beloved Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) stated: 'And I command you with five that Allah has commanded me: the congregation, listening, obedience, hijrah, and jihad in the cause of Allah. Whoever separates from the congregation by a hand-span has removed the yoke of Islam from his neck unless he returns. And whoever calls with the call of Jahiliyyah, he is among the embers of Jahannam.' A man asked: 'Even if he fasts and prays?' He stated: 'Even if he fasts and prays. So call with the call of Allah who named you Muslims, Believers, Servants of Allah.'"
اردو ترجمہ
حضرت حارث اشعری رضی اللہ تعالیٰ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: "بے شک اللہ جل و علا نے یحییٰ بن زکریا کو پانچ باتوں کا حکم دیا کہ ان پر عمل کریں اور بنی اسرائیل کو حکم دیں کہ وہ ان پر عمل کریں۔ عیسیٰ نے ان سے کہا: اللہ نے تمہیں پانچ باتوں کا حکم دیا ہے کہ ان پر عمل کرو اور بنی اسرائیل کو حکم دو کہ وہ ان پر عمل کریں۔ یا تو تم انہیں حکم دو یا میں دوں گا۔ پس انہوں نے بیت المقدس میں لوگوں کو جمع کیا یہاں تک کہ بھر گیا اور لوگ کنگروں پر بیٹھ گئے۔ انہوں نے نصیحت فرمائی اور کہا: بے شک اللہ جل و علا نے مجھے پانچ باتوں کا حکم دیا ہے کہ ان پر عمل کروں اور تمہیں حکم دوں کہ ان پر عمل کرو۔ پہلی یہ کہ اللہ کی عبادت کرو اور اس کے ساتھ کسی کو شریک نہ ٹھہراؤ۔ اس کی مثال ایسے ہے جیسے کسی آدمی نے اپنے خالص مال — سونے یا چاندی — سے غلام خریدا اور اس سے کہا: یہ میرا گھر ہے اور یہ میرا کام ہے۔ غلام نے کام کرنا شروع کیا لیکن اپنے مالک کے سوا کسی اور کو دینے لگا۔ تم میں سے کون پسند کرے گا کہ اس کا غلام ایسا ہو؟ بے شک اللہ نے تمہیں پیدا کیا اور رزق دیا پس اس کی عبادت کرو اور اس کے ساتھ کسی کو شریک نہ ٹھہراؤ۔ اور میں تمہیں نماز کا حکم دیتا ہوں — جب نماز پڑھو تو ادھر ادھر نہ دیکھو کیونکہ بندہ جب ادھر ادھر نہیں دیکھتا تو اللہ جل و علا اپنے چہرے سے اس کی طرف متوجہ ہوتا ہے۔ اور میں تمہیں روزے کا حکم دیتا ہوں اور اس کی مثال ایسے ہے جیسے ایک شخص کے پاس مشک کی پوٹلی ہو اور ایک جماعت ہو جو اس کی خوشبو پا کر خوش ہو — بے شک روزہ اللہ کے نزدیک مشک کی خوشبو سے زیادہ پاکیزہ ہے۔ اور میں تمہیں صدقے کا حکم دیتا ہوں اور اس کی مثال ایسے ہے جیسے ایک شخص کو دشمن نے پکڑ لیا اور اس کے ہاتھ گردن سے باندھ دیے اور اس کی گردن مارنا چاہا۔ اس نے کہا: کیا تم مجھے اپنی جان کا فدیہ دینے دو گے؟ پس تھوڑا بہت دے کر اپنے آپ کو ان سے چھڑانے لگا۔ اور میں تمہیں اللہ کے ذکر کا حکم دیتا ہوں اور اس کی مثال ایسے ہے جیسے ایک شخص کے پیچھے دشمن تیزی سے آیا اور وہ ایک قلعے پر آیا اور اپنے آپ کو اس میں محفوظ کر لیا۔ اسی طرح بندہ شیطان سے اپنے آپ کو نہیں بچا سکتا مگر اللہ کے ذکر سے۔" رسول اللہ صلی اللہ تعالیٰ علیہ وآلہ وسلم نے ارشاد فرمایا: "اور میں تمہیں پانچ باتوں کا حکم دیتا ہوں جن کا اللہ نے مجھے حکم دیا ہے: جماعت، سمع، اطاعت، ہجرت اور اللہ کی راہ میں جہاد۔ جو شخص جماعت سے ایک بالشت بھی الگ ہوا اس نے اسلام کا پٹا اپنی گردن سے اتار دیا الا یہ کہ واپس آئے۔ اور جس نے جاہلیت کی پکار لگائی وہ جہنم کے انگاروں میں سے ہے۔" ایک آدمی نے عرض کیا: اگرچہ روزے رکھے اور نماز پڑھے؟ ارشاد فرمایا: "اگرچہ روزے رکھے اور نماز پڑھے۔ پس اللہ کی پکار سے پکارو جس نے تمہارا نام مسلمان، مومن، اللہ کے بندے رکھا۔"
