Al-Hasan ibn Sufyan narrated to us, Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah narrated to us, Abd Allah ibn Idris narrated to us from Muhammad ibn Amr, from Abu Salamah, from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: We said: O Messenger of Allah, will we see our Lord on the Day of Resurrection? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: «Do you crowd one another to see the sun at noon when there are no clouds?» They said: No. He said: «Do you crowd one another to see the moon on the night of a full moon when there are no clouds?» They said: No. He said: «By the One in Whose hand is my soul, you will not crowd one another to see Him except as you crowd to see one of those two. A man will meet Allah and He will say: O so-and-so, did I not honor you, make you a leader, give you a wife, and subjugate horses and camels for you, and allow you to be a chief and enjoy yourself? He will say: Yes, my Lord. He will say: Did you think you would meet Me? He will say: No. So He will say: I will forget you as you forgot Me. Then another will meet Him and He will say the same to him, and he will say: O my Lord, I believed in You, in Your Book, in Your messengers, I prayed, fasted, and gave charity. And he will praise himself as much as he can. He will say: Stay here then. Then it will be said to him: Now We will send Our witness against you. And he will think: Who will testify against me? Then his mouth will be sealed and it will be said to his thigh, his flesh, and his bones: Speak. So his thigh, flesh, and bones will speak about his deeds. That is so that he will have an excuse against himself. That is the hypocrite, and that is the one with whom Allah is angry.»
