أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ قُتَيْبَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي السَّرِيِّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عَوْفِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ وَهُوَ ابْنُ أَخِي عَائِشَةَ لِأُمِّهَا أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ حَدَّثَتْ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ قَالَ فِي بَيْعٍ أَوْ عَطَاءٍ أَعْطَتْهُ وَاللَّهِ لَتَنْتَهِيَنَّ عَائِشَةُ أَوْ لَأَحْجُرَنَّ عَلَيْهَا قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ حِينَ بَلَغَهَا ذَلِكَ إِنَّ لِلَّهِ عَلَيَّ نَذْرًا أَنْ لَا أُكَلِّمَ ابْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ أَبَدًا فَاسْتَشْفَعَ ابْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ حِينَ طَالَتْ هِجْرَتُهَا لَهُ إِلَيْهَا فَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ وَاللَّهِ لَا أُشَفِّعُ فِيهِ أَحَدًا وَلَا أَحْنَثُ فِي نَذْرِي الَّذِي نَذَرْتُ أَبَدًا فَلَمَّا طَالَ ذَلِكَ عَلَى ابْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ كَلَّمَ الْمِسْوَرَ بْنَ مَخْرَمَةَ وَعَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ يَغُوثَ وَهُمَا مِنْ بَنِي زُهْرَةَ فَقَالَ لَهُمَا نَشَدْتُكُمَا بِاللَّهِ إِلَّا أَدْخَلْتُمَانِي عَلَى عَائِشَةَ فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَحِلُّ لَهَا أَنْ تَنْذِرَ فِي قَطِيعَتِي فَأَقْبَلَ الْمِسْوَرُ بْنُ مَخْرَمَةَ وَعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ الْأَسْوَدِ بِعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ وَقَدِ اشْتَمَلَا عَلَيْهِ بِبُرْدَيْهِمَا حَتَّى اسْتَأْذَنَا عَلَى عَائِشَةَ فَقَالَا السَّلَامُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ إِيهٍ نَدْخُلُ يَا أُمَّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ؟ فَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ ادْخُلَا فَقَالَا كُلُّنَا؟ قَالَتْ نَعَمِ ادْخُلُوا كُلُّكُمْ وَلَا تَعْلَمُ عَائِشَةُ أَنَّ مَعَهُمَا ابْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ فَلَمَّا دَخَلُوا اقْتَحَمَ ابْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ الْحِجَابَ وَدَخَلَ عَلَى عَائِشَةَ فَاعْتَنَقَهَا وَطَفِقَ يُنَاشِدُهَا وَيَبْكِي وَطَفِقَ الْمِسْوَرُ وَعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ يُنَاشِدَانِ عَائِشَةَ وَيَقُولَانِ لَهَا إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ قَدْ نَهَى عَمَّا عَمِلْتِيهِ وَإِنَّهُ لَا يَحِلُّ لِمُسْلِمٍ أَنْ يَهْجُرَ أَخَاهُ فَوْقَ ثَلَاثٍ فَلَمَّا أَكْثَرَا عَلَى عَائِشَةَ التَّذْكِرَةَ طَفِقَتْ تُذَكِّرُهُمْ وَتَبْكِي وَتَقُولُ إِنِّي نَذَرْتُ وَالنَّذْرُ شَدِيدٌ فَلَمْ يَزَالَا بِهَا حَتَّى كَلَّمَتِ ابْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ ثُمَّ أَعْتَقَتْ عَنْ نَذْرِهَا ذَلِكَ أَرْبَعِينَ رَقَبَةً ثُمَّ كَانَتْ بَعْدَمَا أَعْتَقَتْ أَرْبَعِينَ رَقَبَةً تَبْكِي حَتَّى تَبُلَّ دُمُوعُهَا خِمَارَهَا

Muhammad ibn al-Hasan ibn Qutayba informed us, Ibn Abi al-Sarri narrated to us, Abd al-Razzaq narrated to us, Ma'mar informed us, from al-Zuhri, from Awf ibn al-Harith who is the son of Aisha's sister, that Aisha narrated that Abdullah ibn al-Zubayr said regarding a sale or gift she had given: 'By Allah, Aisha will stop or I will declare her legally incompetent.' Aisha said when that reached her: 'I have made a vow to Allah that I will never speak to Ibn al-Zubayr ever.' Ibn al-Zubayr sought intercession when her abandonment of him became prolonged. Aisha said: 'By Allah, I will not intercede for anyone on his behalf, nor will I break my vow that I have vowed, ever.' When that became prolonged for Ibn al-Zubayr, he spoke to al-Miswar ibn Makhrama and Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Aswad ibn Abd Yaghuth, and they were from Banu Zuhra. He said to them: 'I adjure you by Allah to bring me in to Aisha, for it is not permissible for her to vow to cut me off.' Al-Miswar ibn Makhrama and Abd al-Rahman ibn al-Aswad came with Abdullah ibn al-Zubayr, having wrapped him in their cloaks, until they sought permission to enter upon Aisha. They said: 'Peace be upon the Prophet (peace be upon him). May we enter, O Mother of the Believers?' Aisha said: 'Enter.' They said: 'All of us?' She said: 'Yes, all of you enter,' not knowing that Ibn al-Zubayr was with them. When they entered, Ibn al-Zubayr rushed through the curtain and entered upon Aisha, embraced her, and began to adjure her and weep. Al-Miswar and Abd al-Rahman began to adjure Aisha and say to her: 'The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) forbade what you have done, and it is not permissible for a Muslim to abandon his brother for more than three days.' When they reminded Aisha much, she began to remind them and weep, saying: 'I have made a vow, and the vow is serious.' They continued with her until she spoke to Ibn al-Zubayr, then she freed forty slaves for that vow of hers. After she had freed forty slaves, she would weep until her tears would wet her headscarf.
